Hi Guys
Im an outland FSW applicant whose 100% progress bar has reached its maximum. I raised a webform and got below reply about my application -
'We verified the information you provided and can confirm that your application is in process at the Case Processing Center in Ottawa, Ontario (CPC-O)
  • The eligibility assessment is in process.
  • The background verifications are in process.
  • The security background verification has not been initiated.
  • The criminal background verification is currently valid.'
Have few queries as I'm a bit new to raising a webform and what the terms mean -
a) As I'm from India I thought my file/case should be with the india VO. Can someone please explain why its in Ottawa?
b) What exactly is background verification and security background verification? I'm worried as it's not completed yet.

Will be grateful if someone can plz explain the queries I had.

a) The files are transferred as per work load distribution or due to country specific knowledge, although, your file will be transferred to the LVO, as it will be your visa issuing office.

b) BGC includes criminality and security. Seehttps://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/the-anatomy-of-a-background-check-in-depth-analysis.500146/

There is a separate “country of birth” field. That’s why thought this is country of residence...
Also, just realised. My friend from the USA was born in Japan, as her parents worked overseas. Her country of birth is Japan but her country of origin is the United States.

Hi guys,
I have gotten my GCMS notes.

Eligibility: Met
Security: Not Started
Criminality: Passed
Medical: Passed
Info Sharing: In progress
Final:

My AOR is Dec 27th, it's been past 6 months mark and I was wondering what could be the reason Security has not started. What is Security anyway? I thought Criminality and Security is the same thing.

My Agent notes seem fine and everything was clear to the agent, so I guess that's good news.

PS I hope you all keep sane and safe :)

Your security has not started because your eligibility is not yet passed. See the last 3-5 pages for the agent notes.

See this post where this has been explained. #3,201

Also what's security, see https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/the-anatomy-of-a-background-check-in-depth-analysis.500146/

Thanks so much for clarifying.

I assumed because Eligibility said "met" it was passed.
This is very common. To be sure you have to see the notes entered.

Glad it clarified the issue.

Also, just realised. My friend from the USA was born in Japan, as her parents worked overseas. Her country of birth is Japan but her country of origin is the United States.
Even though I lived in USA for several years I wouldn’t say it’s my origin. Originally I am from India. The word “origin” meaning is different and amazed that in your friends case they would say that her country of origin is United States. Unless and until it’s country of origin of the case it wouldn’t make sense.

And the other link someone else provided seems like a good source too and had explicitly stated CoR as country of residence.

Anyway I have submitted a webform with screenshots of the GCMS notes information highlighting Country of Residence - CoR field and mentioning that it should be Canada for me and my daughter as we are residing in Canada since beginning of this year.

Do we get ghost update for each GCMS request? Please let me know.

I recently got a ghost update, and the same day or next day I got my GCMS notes.

Ghost updates are just generic updates which signifies a movement in your application. Some applicant never receive any GU and their application is approved, others will receive 3-5 duding the processing. Getting a GU and the GCMs notes a day after is just a coincidence since the GCMS notes have no bearing on the processing of your application. They are entirely two different processes.

The processing of your application happens under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, whereas the GCMs notes are released under the Access to Information Act.

My AOR is Dec 13. EE FSW Inland. Residing and working in Canada since Jan 2020 on a LMIA based work permit.

Case was set as Ready for Approval on May 12th with an assignment date of June 10th.

Was thinking everything is going perfectly in my case and then June 13 came and nothing progressed since then.

On June 30th the assigned agent reviewed my case and assigned me to Covid pace group. And there isn’t a new assigned date.

If it was really office delay in processing then my assigned agent would have not opened my case and reviewed it?

I believe the agent decided to put me in Covid pace again (I was removed from it beginning of June probably based on my couple of calls to IRCC) probably based on the CoR field (which I believe is country of residence) listed as USA instead of Canada.

Have submitted now a webform asking them about the CoR field and why it’s USA and not Canada. I have also requested a new GCMS notes.

Anyone else has any other thoughts about what’s going on with my case and any actions I could take? Would appreciate your input.

Would like to be able to bring my spouse and aging parents - without PR and with border closures it’s not possible.

Thanks for the information. I am trying to prove to IRCC that I reside in Canada and have submitted several documentation for the same. It’s possible that it has also caused some update.

The only thing pending in my case is approval and have not got any email or online update yet...

Since you have completed 6 month period, order GCMS.
you will get a clear picture of what is happening with your file.
