You'll still need it to travel even after you get PR, PR doesn't allow you to get a Canadian Passport. So I'd renew.

I have not the same but very close. but as I mentioned I havent got any emails but I have been provided all the same info on the ecas except AOR line. Hence I got the file no. from cic agent through phone call.
Any updates from visa office for the "main applicant"?

no updates yet from the office but with the emails i read that it happens sometimes. whther you provided an email address or not. at least you have info! that's good!

1)My SA application and PR application status are in "In Process", sponsored my wife. She had to apply for a reissue of her passport. How can she update the VO with her new passport number?
2) She recently got a job, does she need to update about her work status to VO? As, when she applied for the visa she was a homemaker!

I would say yes, I'm sure I read that "In process" status would remain during the whole process on the left side. (Even after SA)

The avg AOR to SA is 10 days. Avg for AOR is 54. So you're not that far past the averages. You'll get SA this week, both of you. Mondays are slow.
