Sorry to use this thread to ask another question, but with you guys being the most recent couples to apply you might have the best answer...

Recap - husband is American, i am sponsoring him to Canada - outland.

Do we need to sign the back of the immigration photos?

Your help is very much appreciated.

We're sitting at the library doing the last minute things....i cannot wait to head over to Fedex next to ship it off!!!!! :)

The back of the photos should be signed by the person being sponsored and also has to write his birthday on it.

Is this a rule or a practice?

I am sorry for being naive, but i dont remember reading anything like that while filling up the forms.

It is written on the guidelines.

APPENDIX A of COUNTRY SPECIFIC FORM (PHILIPPINES)

PHOTOS
Supply nine (9) recent photos for each member of your family and yourself (accompanying and non-accompanying). Photos submitted must be properly labeled at the back with the applicant's name, date of birth and signature. Follow the instructions in Appendix B: Photo Specifications

Oh ok...

I just saw the country specific guide for INDIA and i found out this.

8. PHOTOS
Supply six (6) recent photos for each member of your family and yourself. Read the instructions in your guide in the following sections:
•“Completing the Immigration Forms” and,
•Appendix B: Photograph Specifications.

Appendix: B reads like this

Notes to the applicantTAKE THIS WITH YOU TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER
•Immigration photos are not the same as passport photos.
•Make sure that you provide the correct number of photos specified in this guide.
Notes to the photographer
The photos must:
•show a full front view of the person’s head and shoulders showing full face centered in the middle of the photograph;
•have a plain white background;
•be identical (black and white or colour) produced from the same untouched negative, or exposed simultaneously by a split-image or multi-lens camera.
The photos must:
•measure between 25 mm and 30 mm (1” and 1 1/5”) from chin to crown;
•have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8” x 1 3/4”) finished size.

So thankfully, the above rule doesn't apply to INDIA.

But I must thank you dadaem for letting me know about this...Else i would have cursed myself for not having done this correctly.

yes.. each country has it's own rules.... mine for instance.. doesn't say anything about signing the back... My spouses Passport Photos and the Medical photos were taken only about 1 month apart... when they match them up... it'll be clear as day that the person in that photo is in fact the same as in the passport... Good Luck and I wish you a speedy PPR :)

This waiting game is stressing me out. I'll take a short vacation for a while forumers. I will be back when I get an update [which I hope will be SO SOON]. :D
