Dd will expire in 3 months OINP

My application delivered on 25th feb in next two months my DD will be expired

Will they send back my app ?

Or will they giv me time to send a new DD ?


I have checked with the bank i cant revalidate my DD

And all DD issued in india are valid for 3 months only


I called them yesterday the lady told me to email the query i had emailed them the same

What should i do ?

Feeling frustrated

Suimine also discussed in forum that in 2016 cic will do draw on noc base

How true this is ?

Becoz i kno there are many guys from nov to march who have applied for oinp

They have probably not even gotten around to processing your application yet- until you get the AOR, they haven't done a completeness check on your profile. AORs are usually sent 60-75 days after receipt of your application. The 90 day processing period for the application begins only after the AOR has been received. Moreover, the months of December and January do not count towards any of this time, because OINP was not operating in this period.

I am concerened as already 90 days have passed since my application has been received and my DD has already expired .

Unfortunately Bank is not going to understand that OINP has not even done completeness check on my application , they will simply dishonour the DD when ever OINP try to encash the same , as it has expired .

I honestly am not quite sure what one can do in a situation like this. Can you have a new DD made? I suggest doing that, and FedExing it to OINP with your EE profile number, explaining that the old DD will probably be expired by the time they get around to processing your file, so they should use the new one instead. I also recommend having the new one be made for six months validity, not three.

I honestly am not quite sure what one can do in a situation like this. Can you have a new DD made? I suggest doing that, and FedExing it to OINP with your EE profile number, explaining that the old DD will probably be expired by the time they get around to processing your file, so they should use the new one instead. I also recommend having the new one be made for six months validity, not three.

Actually as per Indian Guidelines Max validity of DD is 3 months only and moreover my bank is also not ready to cooperate , As pe my bank they cannot do anything and want me to forget my 1500 CAD.

If it expires without en-cashing, then bank is obliged to give that money back because money is with issuing back only.

Which bank did you get your DD from? It is not true that bank drafts issued from India are valid only for 3 months. I got mine issued from ICICI Bank and got a confirmation that all foreign currency bank drafts are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

HSBC Bank , they have even told me this on email .

In that case my DD will also be valid for 6 months , as RBI guidelines are same across banks .

This is a real confusion here, I visited m bank today and they told me it depends on bank to bank. If there is a validity date on the draft the bank in Ontario may not accept it. In my case they say that as per rules it is 3 months but as there is no validity mentioned on draft, they might accept the draft and Indian bank has no reason to reject.

But this is a real confusion. As the person told me he will let me know whether the draft is encashed or not by monday , i shall update the same.
