Damascus/Spousal since Jan 2010 or late 2009

I calculated the average of month to get the PPR after starting process in Damascus. (I tooke the last 19 PPR in the table)

The average is 7.6 month​

thanks h, it's really realistic. i think it will become even better on the light of recent changes to immigration rules.


all: i personally think 6 months period is very good. it gives enough time to ensure the relation works very well. I see quite a few people who sponsor their spouse and then separate in a few years. just highlighting the positive side!

Mazloolm, looking at the chart that you have re-organized (thank you), I can see that some people have had their case processing in Damascus before yours. What is the reason to that? Have you followed up?

If you are Canadian citizen then you can be with your partner outside of Canada, but you have to prove that you will return back to Canada when the process is complete.
If you are permanent resident, then you should be in Canada during the whole process.

i think that's a misunderstanding. you can stay with your wife any time and anywhere as long as you afford and have no visa issue.

I got another question from you friends, what kind of documents would they require after like 5 or 6 months? Didn't they ask for all the documents from the beginning? Seriously, it took my wife 12 hours of traveling just to get her medical examination. I hope she doesn't have to do it again.

dear aliaria,yes if you are permenant resident you have to be in canada while the whole processing is being done,you can live with your spouse if you are citizen and then you have to provide proof of your restablishment.this is a law ,of course if your are applying outland.this is the reason I am waiting the process ends and return Iran.

dear aliaria,about your question ,as far as I am concerned it depends on each case.if things go like 2010 applicants ,they are going to send us a questionaire to fill in,or if the medical expires ,they may ask us to renew it ,or I have seen for some cases they ask for more proof of relationship

actually mohammedessam is right; PRs cannot sponsor their spouses while residing outside Canada....if it looks to them that u move back to be with ur wife during the process they coukd refuse the application....if u go and visit for a few weeks then it's ok

new documents after a while could be: updated proofs that the sponsor is actually still residing in Canada, updated proofs for the relationship (in case they doubt it's genuine), if the visa is close then updated police certificate (from the ones i saw from 3 diff countries it says on them they r valid just 90 days), updated medicals if close to expiry, updated photos (if the 1st ones were wrong), if ur situation changes - new baby for example, then updated forms, baby passport, birth certificate, ....
