dear aliaria, yes if you are permenant resident you have to be in canada while the whole processing is being done, you can live with your spouse if you are citizen and then you have to provide proof of your restablishment.this is a law ,of course if your are applying outland.this is the reason I am waiting the process ends and return Iran.
Oh.. Thanks Souhait,

So, when I go to Iran and visit my wife for like a month, I have to send them a letter explaining that I have done such a thing? (I am a citizen btw) Been here for 13 years now

actually mohammedessam is right; PRs cannot sponsor their spouses while residing outside Canada....if it looks to them that u move back to be with ur wife during the process they coukd refuse the application....if u go and visit for a few weeks then it's ok

new documents after a while could be: updated proofs that the sponsor is actually still residing in Canada, updated proofs for the relationship (in case they doubt it's genuine), if the visa is close then updated police certificate (from the ones i saw from 3 diff countries it says on them they r valid just 90 days), updated medicals if close to expiry, updated photos (if the 1st ones were wrong), if ur situation changes - new baby for example, then updated forms, baby passport, birth certificate, ....
Thank you Missmini for your prompt and satisfying reply, that is great, if I knew I would have asked my wife to make two translation copies of police certificate. Hopefully they wouldn't want much from me, cause I sent them 3 kilos of paper just in case. BTW when I read the baby part :) I went like this---> ;D very cute. hehehe

you welcome dear aliaria, well I dont think so,you dont have to tell them,in fact I have not seen any law for citizens or even permenant residents that should inform the embassy when they want to visit their spouse.
there is a place in the questionaire that( if you receive) you will have to let them know, because it is actually a residency questionaire (RQ).hope it helps and good luck!

agreed.

there is no difference between PR or citizenship. one should prove that he or she lives in canada to be able to sponsor his or her wife.

there is no limit on visit. in fact it's good for your relationship proof.

whether you are citizen or PR, if it turns out that you are living outside canada, then you will have to provide different documents.

4.You must reside in Canada and continue to do so when the person you want to sponsor and his or her family members become permanent residents.
Exception: Canadian citizens living exclusively outside of Canada may submit a sponsorship for their spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and their children who have no children of their own. They must, however, come to Canada to reside with the sponsored person. If this is your situation, complete Section F - Residency Declaration.

as i mentioned in the other post, there is no visit limitation as long as you can prove you live in canada. if you cannot prove you work and live in canada then that's a specific issue related to you. generally speaking, whether PR or citizen, you can take a vacation and visit your spouse.

reside = living

it does not mean you cannot travel. if you can afford a trip to iran, go for it!!!

yeah babies r cute :D
even 2 translations for the police certificate would not help cuz they look at the issue date, not the translation date
visiting ur wife is not bad so u don't need to explain them anything; if u would like to keep them updated u could send them new pictures together from ur visit, all together with family, places u saw together - all to enforce ur relationship; if u do that then also show ur travel ticket and passport stamps so they see u r back in Canada as u stated initially :) but u don't have to update them, it's really up to if it makes u sleep better or not ;)

hehehe.vivi jan I am so sorry, but it is a really funny figure ;D .you know the figure I always send my husband is the figure who has gone to a silent relationship (masalan gahre).vivi jan you take care too.
one question, have you sent the option-c printout? I provided an explanation instead,I mean I had not received my notice of assessment at that time.do you think it is necessary? because I have got it recently.
Souhait junam,
No, it won't matter. At the time I was applying I didn't have the option c either, I became a pr in the last days of 2010 so I didn't have my taxes filed for that year, I explained this for them. My guess is even if it did matter CPC-Mississauga would have returned our application, asking for it. So my guess is we're ok, they just need that option c to check that we're not on welfare. I've seen so many people in other threads telling that they didn't have the option c either. ;) Don't worry azizam :-*
