if u look at the chart that we have thanks to aam7 there is a bit of a pattern of people getting their pp requests and such..... who knows maybe once they approve an application they dont send it right away or one by one, or maybe the department which takes care of the final steps is so busy since they have so many approved files that its taking them a while to send out all the PP requests at once haha :D ;D lets hope its the last thing i said but i doubt it which is why i laughed at my own sentence, and the waiting ......

Few weeks ago, I emailed the Canadian embassy in Damascus. After that, I don't see the message "Medical Results has been received". I thought this message will appear again in the next week (after the update). what is going on?...

mikey ,it has nothing to do with you emailing them, when they updated the page for me and it said WE RECEIVED THE APPLICATION under it, it said "Medical Results has been received", i checked the ecase like 4 hours later and it wasn't there anymore......... it was weird for me too but i think it might be a glitch or some kind of problem with their site or ECASE i mean it was there in the morning then it was gone a few hours later. but dont take that seriously since medical is basically one of the last steps. basically now its just waiting for the RQ

wow the great news just keeps rolling in i guess, this is what we need, Canadian diplomats being urged to leave the country and the files being transferred to another visa office ......... ::) i hope the unrest doesn't continue or at least if it does it forces the embassy to work quicker to get people out since the refugee lines will be filling up if something does happen in Syria

are you sure that the files are being moved? and if so, what does this mean for our files? Does Canada do the refugee files before the spousal sponsorships? OMG i have a lot of questions now

no hanna nothing is being moved! i said GOD FORBID this craziness might lead to that, right now its nothing serious at all and everything is going normally like before, so you dont have to worry, i guess i should have explained better haha sorry didnt mean to scare anyone, hopefully nothing will ever happen and everyone gets the news they want shortly :D

I hope nothing will happen but take a look at Tunisia, Egypt, Libya , the revolution going on in Bahrein and let me tell you there isn't much place for optimism lol... Anyway when the crisis happened in Ivory Coast in september or so the canadian visa offices in those countries basically stopped working I think.. I saw in another blog that some people had e-mailed the Canadian embassy in Ivory coast about the status of their sponsorship and it's been months and they still haven't even received a response to their inquiry. Let's just hope the same doesn't happen for us too...

Hi All,
I'm new into this sitem I would really appreciate your help to answer some questions, I have received bellow email from the Embassy in Damascus to send my passport and I'm not clear on the followings:

1- Can I peronsally hand my passport to the embassy instead of sending it by DHL to speed the process? and how many days it will take if I go in person?
2- What documents do I need to take besides the passport and pictures?
3- What does it mean that there is no guarantee that the visa will be issued?

I really appreciate your help here .... I'm worried.

Thanks

REQUEST FOR SUBMISSION OF PASSPORTS
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. We are now in the final stages of processing and request that you send the following documents to our office in Damascus, Syria:

ORIGINAL individual valid passport, for yourself.
2 recent photos (35 mm x 45 mm, white background) for yourself.

If the validity date of your visa is shorter than two months, we recommend you to submit your passport directly to our office in Damascus. This will allow us to return your passport to you much faster and will give you as much time as possible to travel to Canada.

Please note, this does not guarantee that a visa will be issued.

Your passport MUST be received at our Embassy in Damascus no later than 30 days from the date of this letter. You are strongly encouraged to send your passport via courier (If this service is available in your country) to avoid wait times at the Embassy.

I think someone mentionned before that they requested his wife to submit her passport and when she went they told her it could take up to two months or something to give her the visa but she went back the next day and they gave it to her. So the thing about ''no guarantee'' i think it's just to scare you more than anything... Which country are you travelling from?

To be in safe side make sure you have AOR letter , the print out of Passport request email, one additional ID and copy of it , your passport and photos.

Do not forget to check the visa and make sure everything is correct before leaving the embassy when you pick up the visa.

Good Luck

Welcome KA,

It is nice to hear some good news, hopefully there will be more of us with the same letter.
I hope when you hand in your passport, they give it back to you fast.
Good Luck!
