No lawyer is needed. I got one and I 'm real unhappy, uncertain , and confused about everything and anything he's ever done .

If you feel confident that you can go on for the rest of this process without help of your lawyer, you should let them go.

From immigration point of view, you can easily disallow Immigration Canada to disclose any more information and/or send any correspondent to them by filling up the same form as you filed to appoint him to begin with. But instead you have to fill in Part C of the form (Cancel the Appointment of a Representative):

Then you can contact your lawyer to pay them for their work up to this point and get you whole file back in your possession. If you are at the beginning of the process, you might not have much in you file. They should have the photocopies of the whole thing that you filed with Immigration Canada.

Hi all, I hope everyone is doing fine. Not sure if there are peple in this forum that are Lebanese, but here is the latest news. I went and saw my MP today, gave me a paper to send to my husband in Lebanon to sign so she can access his file. Now here is the SAD PART. I applied for my sponsorship back in May 2011, recvd e-mail stating granted sponsorship on June 8,2011 and that my file was sent to Ottawa fr further processing and if it goes to Damascus they will advise me. So love with someone overseas. So I said, r u telling me next time I should fall in love with a European or Chinese so my wait time is 5 months or less. I said is that the price we have to pay just because we are from the Middle East. SHe said you have to stay positive and patient. PATIENT????? 8 months of being patient and never complained and now I find out that all the files that said sent to Ottawa never been touched. So GOd help u guys out there whose file went to Ottawa between May 2011-Aug 2011.....

That is really embarrassing. On that time they could simply deny to receive the new application. It is not at all fair to give hope to people and then disappoint them.

My application was sent to Damascus on Aril 12/11.

Did anyone send thier application before me????? and have they received thier visa yet????

Does anyone know how much longer I need to wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't do this anymore. :'(

We have the exact same timeline Ours was also received April 12 2011. I am also sponsoring my husband from Iran. Have you received any emails or correspondence from Damascus? We have not heard anything. Our applications should be in Turkey now but it all kinda seems like a mess so I think we just have to be patient for awhile until the backlog clears. hopefully we do not have to wait more than 3-5 more months... but there is no way of knowing. I emailed them 4 months ago, they emailed me back, said it is uaually takes up to 11 months for sponsoring spouse. Also told me to be patient!! O please, do they understand how tough this is! Thi is nonesense.

My MP belongs to the Conservative Party. 8 months of waiting for nothing. My file never been touched just filed in Ottawa then Montreal with another 150 files...is is fair? and now what in Mid March they will start processing my file. So what are they talking about when they said that the time frame wen I applied was 9 months and now 13 monhs, but in reality is more likely 2 years. I just wanna explode...I dont know who to turn to.......This is crazy...a big mess...and now God knows Lebanon processing time is how long,. With only 3 ppl on board...YAHHHHH good luck.

They don't need "MIDDLE EASTERN", Canada is filled with Indians just look out side your window (if your in Canada right now) precessing time is only 6 months, and i read on the form that they are getting it faster then that.
There is a Indian guy that was on the Spet form that applied the same time as me( Sept,15,2011) guess what he got his PPR on Jan,10,2012. and he was so upset that it took his wife that long, oh ya they have previously refused his wife 6 times a visit visa, but hey they give ppr to her in 4 months.

Just for your information the highest immigration fraud is from Indians. I know because my a cosine is a Imagination agent. (not in CIC-m)

I worked with a guy that was from India, his wife sponsered to Canada long time ago. Now he has two kids.
Now he went back to India and got married to a girl like 20 years younger than him, so she can come and work here. she was a relative, so his real wife was ok with evrything. He added a letter to his application and he wrote that I am no happy with my wife and we have so many problem. I can't get divorced from her because our cultures and the children. he said in my culture it is allowed for a man to get married twice. He got her here and after a while the got divorced. He told me many people that he know in their community that bring people to Canada and make money out of it.
That is funny that they accepted the marriage because one of the condition is that the marriage should accepted by the country that the marriage took place it and the other condition is that you are not married to someone else. I am sure they know second marriage is not legal in India. Makes me mad to see how they take it easy for them.

She got here only in 6 months. makes me sick that we have to be separated from our loves for so long.

I don't want to be negative but they said they are going to tarnsfer our files in March. God knows when they are going to start proccessing. Even if they start in March I am still going to thanks God. What I am scared is they don't even transfer it in mrach
