Hi all,
I would like to start a new topic to discuss. What do you think about having an immigration lawyer or consultant Vs. doing evrything yourself. Do you think they can help and make things easier or they are not neccessary? Would it make any differnces to have one?

I hired a consultant befor applying and I did not like her and cancelled my contract with her before she starts working and decided to do evrything myself. Do you think I should have looked for another consultant.
Is anyone aware of anycase that something needed to be done and only lawyer/consultant could do it not us, or any example that their work made things better.
I agree with Sohrab on this issue, I personally read through the guidelines which explain everything very clearly, I had only few questions which their answers I found here on this forum. Unless you consider your case somewhat different I believe there's no need to hire a lawyer and you can do everything on your own

I third that ... if it is a straight forward case, no need to hire a lawyer ...

We, applicants of former Damascus did our medical from beginning. But you have to check the thread for Indian and see how was the situation for them. Or you can check the requested documents through your visa office too.

No lawyer is needed. I got one and I 'm real unhappy, uncertain , and confused about everything and anything he's ever done .

vivi : your words made me feel better already. I really am prepared to go to any extent to get out of Iran with my family , and If u really want s/th so so so bad, you will get it. ( god willing)

god bless u missmini , I 'll ask my brother to have that ready in case.

cheers

hi Mehdi, goooooooooooooood morning everyone

u welcome :) again don't worry; overall there's no income requierement and even when they will asses ur financial capabilities they will asses u as a family not only the sponsor; so if they feel that ur wife would be able to also work in Canada all good; if she speaks good English, she has some degree, she works in Iran - all these are signs that she could find a job in Canada too - any kind of job, even part time (does not necessarily need to be a career job or in her field); it does not matter if the income comes from her side or ur side or both for them the most important is that u don't ask their help ;) that's all they care!! also if u have some savings in Iran or if u plan to sell something before u move to Canada u can show proof of that, but not yet, only if they ask :)

yes as vivi said we heard of maybe 1-2 cases rejected from this reason but there were exceptional cases: one both the applicant and the sponsor were like 60+, another the sponsor was receiving disability benefits and they were not convinced that the applicant could work and help both (but they did have interview not refused directly)

by the way, did u receive any email from Missisauga? some people in January did (not sponsor approval just "we received ur package" email)....it would b great to know why some do while others don't ::)

good luck!!

wow that is great knowing, the chances of the agent screwing my approval is slim then, whooow" sigh of relief
No , I haven't received any email yet, actually I WOULD NOT receive any email at all . the agent receives my emails . any correspondence for that matter >:( :(

man I made a mistake hiring an agent who I 'm sure is as clueless as m junior about sponsership.
