Guys plz help me with this situation:

I'm applying to sponsor my conjugal partner, if our application gets denied and then we marry to prove our relationship as genuine, do we have to start over? or they'll just continue the process?

Thankssss

Hi Erina
My spouse and I were originally going to apply as conjugal. as far as our lawyer explained to us, it is the same as spousal as far as process. if sponsorship is not approved in Mississauga you would have to start over but if you are approved and the application is sent to Damascus and it is denied in Damascus then you have right of appeal. you would go to court and prove as much as u can (plane tickets to visit each other, phone bills ect) if the appeal is denied you would have to start over, as married if you could. our lawyer advised us that conjugal takes longer and is more difficult to prove. we get married before we applied. if you are able to get married it would probably help your case and i'm pretty sure you could just send the marriage certificate in with a letter to change your marital status and update your application. is your application in damascus already? Good luck Erina:) Hope that helps;)

Thanks Kamal, kila2 zo2 :). Lets hope that sunday will be a good day for all of us. Have a good week- end everyone!

By the way,
Sponsorship + interview + Damascus search gives back 58 results, out of which only one case was refused based on the interview and after appealing; the appeal was dismissed by the judge

Good luck

what do you mean, they can refuse me if they thought something. btw my case is normal, and the only thing they ask me for is the passport.

I think the application can not be refused unless there is something not normal, you can read some cases and judge for yourself !
I am not trying to scare you or anyhthing, all I am saying is it's good to know the good and bad before hand.

My best wishes for a short and smooth interview

wait me my love said:

No I haven't applied yet. I'm actually going to Iran to visit him next week, and there I'm gonna get all of his documents. I have mine ready forwarded to my lawyer. I know we are qualified for conjugal partnership. So when I come back from Iran we'll send everything out. The other thing I'm really confused about, my lawyer told me I don't need to have a proof of income, and from what I've read on this forum, you must prove you have a at least some income, isn't that true? The only thing he asked me to bring was Notice of Assessment!

Hi guys :)

Check this link out...http://www.data.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=En&formid=427337D0-7C36-4FED-8428-C6A63F8C19B3&xml=F36C86A9-85F5-454E-835A-5C534A9E942E&resource=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cic.gc.ca%2Fopendata-donneesouvertes%2Fdata%2F000001-eng.xls&formid=427337D0-7C36-4FED-8428-C6A63F8C19B3

Click continue and it will open a spread sheet in Microsoft Excel. It says that the approval rate for Damascus spousal applications is 92%! There's also other info (not much, but it's good to see) about how long it takes them to process applications. Just thought I would share it so that everyone can see and maybe feel a little happier :)
