I wouldn't really say it's other peoples conversation even tho maybe you were addressing yourself to a certain person, if you don't want people to invite themselves into your conversation and state their opinion than just send a message in the persons inbox.. that will save all the misunderstanding and drama.

i dont live here dear, im here on a temporary contract, im staying at a hotel, sheraton, its like 5-10 mins from the embassy , nice hotel but whats the point when you cant go out, i dont know how much they paid since i got here but im sure its not cheap, anyways its not like we are making normal salary so i guess it evens out

TRV while sponsorship app is processed

Hello everyone,

I am a canadian citizen living in mississauga. I got married in syria and applied for spouse sponsorship.
I have read few pages in this forum but no one ever mentionned a TRV for the spouse.
I want my wife to come visit me in Canada while her sponsorship app is being processed.
The only way seems to get her a temporary resident visa ( tourist visa ).
anyone have had any experience with such a visa while the sponsorship app is in process ? any help is appreciated.

met my wife while i was on vacation in syria around feb 2010. she became my fiancee and i came back to Canada.
In August 2010 I have made an app for a TRV for her, and they advised her to withdraw the app until she brings proof of marriage to proove the merit of the TRV.
In October 2010 went back to syria for 3weeks, married my wife and went with her to the Ambassy with a TRV app and the proof of marriage. it was declined saying i did not apply for sponsorship.
In April 2011 i sent my sponsorship app.
May 18 received confirmation of sponsor approval. No news since then.
On the website it says Damascus received my app on june 4 2011. nothing else.
Am i supposed to get any other correspondance, i havent heard a word from them.
It was 8 months processing time when i applied, then 9 then 10 and now 13 months !! this is just insane, how they expect new couples to be seperated for so long ?!

anyway i sent faxes to both ottawa and Ambassy in damascus to inquire bout a TRV. no answer !!
they dont even have th e cuortesy to give me information if i can apply for TRV, i dont want my wife to go apply and get denied again, not to mention the situation in syria im scared for her safety and its this wait is very harsh on both of us.

So anyone knows the law, or any gov agency that can help or give me answers ? if i can do nothing bout the processing time, at least i wana be able to see my wife by her coming here on a TRV.

Hello mailbox and welcome to the forum
The information that I'm giving you is based on what I have read in this forum:
For what I learned it is very unlikely that VO issues TRV for the person whose sponsorship application is currently being processed.
On the other hand since you are a Canadian citizen you have no obligation to be in Canada during the processing time so you can go visit your wife for as long as you want.
If you decided to move to Syria for a long period , you must prepare a proof that you intend to come back to Canada with your wife after the sponsorship application approved.

P.S. There has been few TRV success stories on this forum as well, but I am not sure under what circumstances it was issued.

i got married in syria as well my file has been in process in syria since may 2011, the online ecas does not provide information so its pointless to sit and stare at it mine still says application received , unfortunetly they do expect us to wait that long and as someone already meantionned it to u on this forum , as a canadian u can visit ur wife if u wish too , the embassy will not send u any e mails until they require something from you ...My husband has applied for a visitor visa, our spouses are allowed to but the chances based on what i hear and experienced are slim to none specifically from syria as my husband has been told ...to get a visitor visa u need to prove you will return to syria and based on the situation there and the fact that his spouse (me ) is here in canada it says he will not return to syria even if he advises he will so his visitor visa was denied ...i guess all u can do is wait and maybe go visit ur wife and hope the processing time for ur file goes a bit faster then the 13 months period ..its a case by case some people have gotten it at 9 and 10 months and some at 13 and 15 ...so it all depends .

everyone will get it , thats the syria thing, im almost 9 months and i didnt get it either, but a friend of mine got it at 11 months! actually she was here, eli, she got it , sent it , 2 weeks later ppr
