i had no intention to be negative what so ever but just wanted to let people know that we have give the new VO's some time to settle in before we start running around like chickens without heads and saying "where is my ppr!". I understand everyone's frustration and believe me im just as frustrated as everyone else here, its been 10 months for me! Let's just all hang in there and hope for the best.

p.s i only said we have to wait a lengthy time because friends of mine who work with DFAIT (foreign affairs) told me that it may take a bit of time before the new VO's settle in and start processing the files.

This is what I think is going on; Files started getting transfered at the end of December and all of January and they didn't tell anyone until all files were transfered that they Embassy would actually close (because I called once in the middle of January and right when I said my husbands from Beirut she said they they will be contacting him from Lebanon-hence they were starting the transfer). Also, people that have files still in Canada will be transfered to the desginated VO's in March. But why March? I think its because they are trying to lessen the load of the files they already transfered from Damascus, and then start on the ones they haven't even transfered Positive thinking will attract positive things

my mp told me a week ago that my file was in Amman jordan got transferred probably jan 15 somewhere there I glad it's in jordan it will be faster and also if there keeping files that are still in Canada till march then people are going to start getting visa prett fast here.. do u guys think it will go faster???

Hey guys, lately everyone is apologizing for someone taking offence; I think mostly this is our stress level talking.
On a different note, my husband (sponsor) has received the following generic email from Damascus, (although I have seen it in someone's previous post but I couldn't be bothered to look it up!)

Dear Sir,

The Visa Section of the Canadian Embassy in Damascus has closed for processing. We are not accepting any new applications. The active files of persons who have made applications for permanent residence in Canada will be sent to other Canadian Visa Offices in the region for processing. The new processing mission will contact you when your file reaches the assessment stage or, if you have already received a positive selection decision, when other documents or information are required to complete your application.

If you have not yet been contacted by your new processing office, and your mailing address / e-mail address has changed, or you wish to withdraw your application, you should send an e-mail to the Damascus office, which will forward this information to the new processing office. Also, if you have received a request for information or documentation from the Damascus office to which you have not yet responded, you should send that information to Damascus for forwarding to the new processing office. These are the only circumstances in which you should contact Damascus or any other Canadian Visa Office in the region. In all other instances, you should await contact from the new processing office - at which time you can provide them updated information or make queries regarding your application. Correspondence which does not meet these requirements will not be answered.

guys, i dont mean to burst your bubbles but we are going to have to wait a lengthy time before we hear anything; it wont be in days, weeks, but perhaps a couple months or so. i think it's best we all just lay back and relax and try to be as patient as possible. there's no problem with having high hopes but let them be realistic.

I don't think the VO offices(Amman,Ankara, Beirut) which recieve our files will delay the touching and looking and checking of our files more than one month(I expect there won't be any significant effort on our files in February) so guys I suggest to skip this month from our great expectation,
and I also don't think the timeline of working of each files will be ignored during Resuming working on our files because that will prolong the work for themselves, I see better for them to finish the files which almost done and they worked before on it.
and when they say the processing time may be lengthier I ASSUME they mean the poor applicant who have been waiting for one year and one year plus month they should suspect delay for one or tow months due to the transferring of files toward new visa offices.
So I expect that the first visa issued for our poor files would be on march or April and I wish it be for the applicant who have been waiting for one year and more than one year or even for who have exceed the half of the period(7 months and more) :-X
I think this Scene is more realistic and more optimistic and fair for all of us<<<<< let us pray that new visa offices which hosting our files would be wise like me ;D ;D

Ah I see what happened with you, thank you for explaining. I think we should start hearing of visa issuance starting the second half of February! Crossing my fingers

I agree with you in all what you say,but in fact I gave the VO of Amman respite this month(February) and rest my self from thinking and worrying upon my pr,and I put all my hopes on march and April cause there will not be any excuses for them,they should finish all arrangement of schedules and work tasks and employees, that for me realistic and optimistic and if the first visa of Damascus transferred files issued on February that would be magnificent event and will give all of us great hope ;D

Totally what I think too ... Files were being transferred even before we first heard about it and when they were all done they just officially announced it. So on January 31st all the files were safe in the new visa office.
Yeah I think the same, they are processing the old files and trying to put them back all on the right track before getting the new files from Canada, that's the reason for the 1 month gap between transferring the old files and the new files.
Also I feel so optimistic about the second half of the February! I don't know why but I'm sure starting from the second half of February to the end of March this place will be so full of PPRs! WOOHOO!
