The reason I keep quiet is because most comments here makes me upset! For the last few days it has just been oh I don't where my file is, oh I wanna accuse CIC of lying to me, oh I haven't heard anything from the new visa office, oh what is the timeline of Amman, oh why has Damascus's timeline been increased to 14 months ...
For those who don't know where their files are, CIC has made it pretty clear on the website:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob380.asp
Files "have been transferred", you know the nationality of the person you are sponsoring, so just take some time and find where your file is supposed to be. They have mentioned all the countries that were previously processed in Syria.
Again on the CIC website it is clearly mentioned that the files that were already in Damascus "have been transferred" (=the transferring is already done!). For the new files, and by new I also mean the ones that got to Mississauga after July or whatever month it was that the first person reported their file is still in Canada, your files will be kept in Canada and they will be transferred after March 1st. CIC did make the best choice in keeping files in Canada and not sending any new files to Syria until the situation is cleared. Do you really think that even if CIC had sent your file to Damascus then a lot of progress would have been done to your file by now? NO, why? Because people who have applied before you are still waiting for a little sign of progress. CIC kept your files to send them right away to a faster visa office, instead of sending to Syria and then transferring.
Yes no one should expect to hear anything from the new visa office, they're not going to send hi dear applicant how are you we have your file, no, the visa office will not contact you unless they need or want something from you and your application has reached the next stage of processing. Although you might see the transfer in ecas, but not right away, for god's sake give them some time!!
The timeline published in CIC's website is based on LAST YEAR's application, this means Amman which never has processed sponsorship application will NOT appear in the chart and they don't even know the timeline themselves. Why has Damascus increased to 14 months? Because Damascus took 14 months to finalize 80% of LAST YEAR's applications. They can't just delete Damascus from the chart, this data is for the previous year and should be published quarterly.
Sorry for sounding harsh, but I just couldn't keep quiet any more.
I am very optimistic about everything that has happened and I know things could have been better, but for a moment just think that things could have been a lot worse too.
