people believe me, the more you think about this process the more you feel depressed. just live your normal lives as you never had this process going on! yeah me and my husband miss each other like hell, but we're not going to let this bring us down. yeah we said goodbye to each other in the airport last week too and yeah it was damn hard and we cried so bad, but we're not going to let that 10 minute goodbye ruin all the fun and joy we had together in my 4 week visit. think about the nice memories you had in your visits and think about the nicer moments you will have in your futures together :)
time passes by faster than you think, to be honest i can't believe that it will be 9 months for me in a few days and that's what i'm happy about, that i have passed 9 months and i know each day that passes brings me one day closer :) and damascus might not be the best and fastest visa office but it definitely is one of the good ones :) people in the islamabad thread with 24 months processing times are more positive than our thread!! :) be happy everyone! :)
Hi ViVi
do you know how long my husband that lives in Canada can come to visit me ? Does it have a limited time?
can it be cause problems for my process? (he is PR in Canada)

Hello everybody

My wife who is waiting for her permanent residence is leaving Homs, Syria to go to Libya because her life is in danger. What's going to happen once she gets approved to get her permanent residence? Can she transfer her application to the canadian embassy in Libya so she can pick up her permanent residence there? How does it work?

Thanks!
Why did not you or your wife call the embassy till now?
Call the emergency numbers which mentioned here http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/syria-syrie/contact-contactez.aspx?view=d or simply ask your wife to go to embassy and explain your situation. I can not understand why you lose your chance!
Send them an email and explain. They will help you! They gave a sos email too.

Keeping busy is THE smartest thing. I was in Lebanon the entire summer and right when I came to Toronto i found a full time job, thank God for work or I would have lost my mind a while ago! I'm pretty sad on weekends, I dont go out cause I dont find it fun without my husband, but I lately just woke up from my 'depression' and i'm like i'm doing this to myself, not the embassy not anyone! So everyone, when your sad, get up and go for a walk, for a run, go out for coffee with your mum or dad or with siblings or a close friend or your gonna stay upset and then in return upset your spouse! Everyone is going to get their visa, we just dont know when, but we have to keep reminding ourselves, our life is NOT on hold, thank God our spouse is still alive and healthy, these are good memories too, we will laugh about this in the future! :D

ps, dont say omg how many more moths until this all ends, but say this will all end in a couple of weeks! :D

Have a great day/evening everyone :D

I don't know if this policy has changed (and I'd be surprised if it did), but I've seen a post from someone getting PPR from Damascus elsewhere on this forum that makes it clear Damascus accepts passport submission via post. The text of the PPR message read that the original passport and 2 immigration-sized photos should be mailed within 30 days to their office and that they highly advised the use of a commercial courier service. Address was: Visa Section, Canadian Embassy, Autostrade Mezze, Lot 12, Near Alrazi Hospital, Damascus, Syria, (963-11) 611-6692

However long he wants, I stayed for four months, there is nothing that states that it causes delays in the process! :D

I am not sure but i read that it is better for a PR not to stay more than 2 or 3 weeks out of Canada. Please correct me if i am wrong!

Hi Samira,
No of course it will not cause any problems, as a PR he should be "residing" in Canada, a visit won't make him lose the "residing". ;)
I'm a PR myself and I stayed for 4 weeks. Cic doesn't exactly mention how many days short visits mean, but I think it's about a month. Cuz when I think about it, when someone is residing in Canada, he/she can't just leave the country for 2-3 months because usually he/she has a job or school or sth. So that's why I assumed 1 month is normal! That's all my assumption and based on what I read on other forums.
The part that I'm sure about is that a visit won't do any harm to an application. I remember asking the same question before leaving and Sohrab (who works for cic) assured me that my assumptions are right!

Page 6 of the Sponsor's Guide states, "If you are a Canadian citizen, you may sponsor a spouse, a common-law partner or conjugal partner, or a dependent child who has no children of his or her own. However, you must demonstrate that you will live in Canada when the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident.
Note: Permanent residents residing abroad may not sponsor from outside of Canada. Canadian citizens travelling as tourists are not considered to be residing abroad." So yeah, you're right that "residing" is left vague here.

Samira jan,

The question u asked is very subjective. During the last 11 months, my wife visited me twice (each time around 2 months).
Our lawyer believes as long as she stays around 8 months per year in Canada there wouldn't be a problem. He also advised us that my wife should not stay out of Canada more than 3 months in one go. Although, staying is Canada is necessary to prove the residency he believes that at the same time the visits shows the ties between husband and wife and thus, persuades the VO that the marriage is not fake.

To make the long story short, if I were in your shoes I would tell my spouse to arrange his visit time around 2 months at most.

As I said earlier it is very subjective. It depends on ur visa officer opinion, but please notice that on the RQ forms you have to answer the following question. (the second question of the form)

Is your sponsor currently in Canada?
Yes--> if yes, you must answer question A and B below.
A) My sponsor has most recently been physically residing in Canada from mm/yyyy to mm/yyyy
B) I last say my sponsor in .............. from mm/yyyy to mm/yyyy

No-->if no, you must answer question A below.
A) my sponsor has been living outside of Canada since mm/yyyy

So personally I disagree with the above quotation of as long as he wants......he can stay 4 months or more but then there is this possibility that the VO becomes a bit picky to make sure that the intention is living in Canada. (not just getting the PR).

Since my wife was pushing me to stay in Iran with me I had shared this question with 5 different lawyers (including our own lawyer) and the outcome was what I said earlier :)
