Damascus/Spousal since Jan 2010 or late 2009

Hi,
I contact CIC Call Centre again, and the guy said if Damascus needs something they contact Mississauga directly and there is nothing I can do.

when I check eCAS it just shows that he sponsorship is approved and nothing is mentioned about the Damascus part.

If anybody has received any initial acknowledgement?

It should not take that long to get AOR. My sponsorship approved in July 22 and I got AOR from Damascus on Aug. 3.
I suggest you to send an e-mail to damascus and explain them the same you wrote here and ask for their advise.

Just wanted to update everyone and tell them that my wife had to sleep the night in Syria but she now has her visa. Thank God the torture is finally over!!! I wish everyone the best of luck, and I recommend that you have your loved ones in Canada contact their MPs once you reach the 7th month to push the process forward. That is what I did.

Finally, with the person who added the processing time, you wrote that it took 7.5 mths for us, but it was 8.5 mths. Just so your calculations are correct. It seems they are taking 8-9 mths to process these applications in Damascus.

Well Mohammad maybe you should contact syria again to see if they have received your file? Because if you call the center once you have shipped your documents they can't help you.. it's just a basic call centre that treats basic answers they are not aware of specifications for each country. I remember calling them when we were filling out the form and asking a question about one document and the guy told me he did not know specifications for each case. Anyway I am applying from Quebec as well...here are my dates so if you're along those lines I'm guessing you should be fine:

I sent the application on October 12 it was approved from Mississauga on Nov 9th but my e-cas says damascus started processing it on November 22nd. I received the CSQ approval on December 9th. Damascus only sent me the file number 3 weeks ago ( January 25th)
So between December 9th and January 25.. I was clueless as to what was happening... So maybe they are working on your file but just haven't updated your e-cas online which was the case for many people here.. Some people's e-cas still shows processing even after they've received their visas lol...

So basically I have received my " acknowledgment of receipt" on january 25th ...two months after they started processing my file. And it wasn't even really an AOR it was just a letter requesting a criminal record from the country my husband works in and a useless questionnaire to fill out.

Hi Mohammad_AB,

The same thing happened to be like AAM7, Damascus never sent me an acknowledgement e-mail after they received the questionnaire and when I emailed them I got the same answer back, “Please be advised that the application is in queue for review”. The letter was word per word as AAM7's.

From what I hear using a lawyer will not speed up the process, but it will empty your pocket. This is from what I understand from reading the information available on the citizenship and immigration Canada site, So I would keep contacting them until this is figured out.

All of our lives feel like it is in limbo, many of us have not seen our spouses in a long time and don't know when we see them again.

But Sadly it seems the processing time has been increased significantly. If you see, the applicants who got the PP Request in Feb. 2011, it took average 6.5 months after Damascus received their RQ Forms :'(
