2 months??? What stuff did you send, passport or something else?

Yeah, Canada Post is unreliable, but that was the recommended option. I a now sorry for not using a courier at least to send it to Ottawa. But I cannot just sit and wait, so we are at least making the canada post agents sweat, since we call them 2-3 times a day to check to status on the "trace" they put on our mail ;D
What they wanted from me was 2 pictures for the PR card and a copy of my passport biodata page..

A courier probably would have been a better option, but I do hope that Ottawa got it and they're just being.. slow like usual.

Wow, then that's pretty bad. From me they asked for passport (I am not visa exempt), 2 pictures and to confirm my height and eye colour. Did you try checking what's happening with your thing? Did it say in your e-mail they will return it 7 days from receiving it (it did in mine)?

Anyone get PPR recently? I am curious who Ottawa is sending out PPRs to. I see that some of the June applicants got PPR in October. Did of the July or August applicants get PPR yet?

We got Decision Made in ECAS but no PPR. I'm guessing that since most applicants processed in Ottawa are from the US and visa exempt, there may be no PPR if the original passport copies submitted raised no issues (e.g. expiration date).

If you are a female applicant who legally changed your name after marriage but applied with a passport under your maiden name, CIC tends to (but not always) send a PPR request (since they suspect you may have updated your passport since you sent in the application).

For all ppl wondering what happened to their documents, try filing for GCMS notes...that shows if they received it and if anyone's looked at it and if anyone's doing anything about it..
it was really helpful for me cuz once in a while i know that somebody touched the file

I assume it's something you do once you get sponsorship approval... Do you call them to ask for it or can you do it on the cic website?
thanks

You actually order them online, I'm assuming you need sponsorship approval but a senior member can advise on that.

I believe this is the Link that'll take you were you need to go - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

correct. there won't be anything to report in the notes until the application is at the visa office and actually opened. you'll need the file number for the application.

considering, they are just now approving June 2014 applicants, and the "average" time for those we've been tracking is 5-7 months, i don't understand how it can be expected for an August application to be approved any sooner than that? The super quick applications (3 month total time) were very rare circumstances, during a short period of time, so it's best to assume total processing time to be 6-8 months. so, 6 months from august is February, and considering the "clock" doesn't start until the application arrives in ottawa, yeah, i'd say February - march is a good estimate for normal processing for august applicants. anything earlier than that will be pure luck.
i'm glad you know it all. that is so great. you should work for CIC

And if your destination is Quebec, changed names get really fun... They use the maiden name for just about everything official here, but of course your federal Canadian documents are with your married name. So, say, if I stop at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for my wife, and they ask me for her name, I really have to think... because I can't remember which name her prescription is under.

Wha? So say someone applies for sponsorship and the applicant applies under their married name from the start (since their passport has already been updated). And they get CoPR and PR card and SIN all in their married name. In Quebec, they would still go by her maiden name and not recognized her married last name?

That's about right. My wife's CSQ has her maiden name, but her PR card has her married name. Her provincial health card and her hospital card have her maiden name, but her name on her prescription drug card (from work) is her married name. Her SIN card has her married name. Women (and I guess men) aren't allowed to change their names when they get married in Quebec, so it creates an odd situation when people immigrate to Quebec after having changed their names elsewhere.

It doesn't interfere with life except when I give a blank stare to the pharmacist when he/she asks for my wife's name. You'd think that after months and months of picking up her BC on the way home I'd remember, but I never do.

I thought Quebec would recognize whatever your legal name was when you immigrated and only disallowed changing your name after once you settle in Quebec. But they are pretty strict.
