I wouldn't be surprised if my app has been transferred because there are many red flags in our case, which I wouldn't list them all here. But we prepared our application well with lots supporting documents. What bothers me is that there's no any correspondence or update from CIC during the last 12 months.

No request for more documents, no request for interview, no request for nothing!
I think the difference in wait times will often depend on the visa officer who is processing your file. I'm convinced that there are some officers who go out of their way to delay fast approvals or seem hell bent to find some fault with your application. In my case I received PPR last October with the usual waiving of interview. For US applicants this normally means COPR is forth coming within a month or so, however such was not the case with me. I found out in March that they transferred my file to LA in January for "review" after a different officer was assigned to complete my file. I ordered GCMS notes to find out why but couldn't find any reason for this decision. I emailed both LA and the Ottawa asking for an explanation but none was given. As far as I can determine my file has been sitting in LA since January untouched for no justifiable reason. These officers are unaccountable to anyone for their actions and that's the reason these things are allowed to happen. And there's not a thing you can do about it.
It's been 14 months for me now and all I can do is wait until someone decides to look at my file some time before 26 months is up.

That's too BAD!!! I'm afraid that mine would be in a similar situation. Way back, I saw a girl's post here. She is not an American citizen nor U.S. PR. What she had was a work visa. She filed her application to Ottawa in July 2012. After a year or so with absolutely no update, she emailed CIC. She then was informed that her filed had been transferred to LA and would be quested for an interview. I think the interview was scheduled in January this year!

The good news was that she passed the interview and got PPR in March, I think.

So that was her timeline! From July 2012 til a couple months ago.

And from CIC's data spreadsheet. I saw that from Oct 2012 to Sep 2013 period, total number of spousal cases were processed in LA is 370. 120 out 370 were rejected. So the acceptance rate was 74%. And 50% of that 370 cases were finalized within 15 months. 80% within 24 months.

As far as I am concerned, my application is fairly straight forward and has met all the requirements under the Immigration Act for Family Class Sponsorship. And I am convinced that if my file had been retained by the original visa officer who was working on it before the Christmas break, instead of the new person who took over in January, then I would have received COPR some time before the end of January.

How do you know that a new officer should have taken it over?? I would have bet a million bucks that's our app was as straight forward as they come. Married with family around, pictures from each place we traveled together. More than enough savings to support me until I get a job. Husband is in the Canadian military-- where he would be charged w a crime if we were to go on welfare. He works FOR the government!! I sincerely believe they don't have anyone to answer too and they really don't care about reuniting families. Its very disheartening. :(

it is, I'm really getting tee'd off. They've had my file over a month after I resent the documents I had errors in and nothing. I'm not in the system at all nor is my husband. I only hope when my husband calls tomorrow, they'll tell us something and/or get on this. It's ridiculous. I was timely, I expect the same courtesy. I understand there is some sort of queue here ( I hope) but I'm frustrated as it took them about 26-28 to have obviously reviewed my file, find the errors and resend it. I don't get it. sorry guys and gals, rant over.

was there a number of days listed on the request for new documents? are you waiting for SA still, or is the this visa office you sent the documents to?

Just a reminder to all, if you need anything updated please send me a private message and I will log in and update the spreadsheet. I am working part time now but spending the rest of my time looking for full time work so I don't have as much time to log into the boards. A private message makes it much easier to do an update. :) Good luck to everyone still waiting for COPR!!

Hello Katester,

From the reply you have received from CIC, it shouldn't take much longer before you get a decision. I don't think it is that officers do not care about reuniting families, it is probably that most have gotten used to not personnalizing cases. And that's why I would think it is a good idea to email every once in a while just to nudge and bring attention to your case. I have not gotten replies to my emails but I have noticed movements every few days after each. Good luck and stay positive.

As far as I know, no unless I missed it. I was in a hurry to resend everything as my police certificate was close to expiry. My sponsor (husband) just got off the phone with the call center and my full name and birthday is in the system but he couldn't tell anything else, no guarantees of how long until SA. I had sent the application to Missasauga (sp?) first as the directions said and sent the whole application ( they sent the whole thing back) with the new/changed documents to the same address as before. So not sure if the fact they found my name is a good thing or not as I was the one who paid the fees for the application. From the sounds of it, it's sitting in CPC-M somewhere and they offer no guarantees but hopefully the call will get them looking, it seemed to work for others. Because if I have to send it all again and get a new police certificate, I'd really like to know so I can get this over with and move on with my life.

understandable. the not knowing is the harderst part for sure. did you get a real letter or an email? usually the letter would have a time period to respond, sorry you don't have a copy to double check. i'll add you to my immigration prayers to the universe!

COPR reissued in my married name!!! It came today! For some reason, they sent it to our new address (as of June 1) but kept my husband's address on the COPR as the old one. I really hope that isn't a problem because I can't handle sending it back AGAIN and wait for it AGAIN!!!!

We are planning a trip home to NY in 2 weeks so I will land then so that I can fill out the B4/B4A looking at my things...I want to just do it today though!!! SOOOO CLOSE!!!!

I got a full on letter and my whole entire application back saying they needed some documents completed and it was rejected/incomplete until I resent. But I think it had a date of end of March some time. Thanks for the prayers, on the upside, my husband also told Ottawa about my baby due in August so maybe he noted that. Fingers crossed.
