Would probably be best to come to the border with the car itself. Assuming you have not exported it from the US? I would give BIS a call (Google Border Information Services) and see what the best thing to do is. The RIV is quite clear on the requirements, including the US Customs side of it - Google RIV Importing a vehicle.OKLandman said:I just got my COPR in the mail today.
I have a question about landing. I have been in Canada since Sept on a Visitors permit. I am in Oklahoma right now visiting my parents and my wife is in Canada. My wife is mailing me the COPR so I can possibly land on my return next week. My one question is my car is already in Canada. Can I land and register my car & pay GST at a later time? I think they have to inspect my car when I import it. Anyone know?
Just imported our car last summer as a Returning Resident (RR) and recieved a $10,000 exemption. There may be something similar when you land, so best thing to do would be talk to BIS.
