I just got my COPR in the mail today.

I have a question about landing. I have been in Canada since Sept on a Visitors permit. I am in Oklahoma right now visiting my parents and my wife is in Canada. My wife is mailing me the COPR so I can possibly land on my return next week. My one question is my car is already in Canada. Can I land and register my car & pay GST at a later time? I think they have to inspect my car when I import it. Anyone know?

Would probably be best to come to the border with the car itself. Assuming you have not exported it from the US? I would give BIS a call (Google Border Information Services) and see what the best thing to do is. The RIV is quite clear on the requirements, including the US Customs side of it - Google RIV Importing a vehicle.

Just imported our car last summer as a Returning Resident (RR) and recieved a $10,000 exemption. There may be something similar when you land, so best thing to do would be talk to BIS.

COPR arrived today!! I am leaving for the border NOW--I'm ready to have it all completed!

Hang in there, good things are coming from Ottawa!

:D :D :D

List the car (VIN number) on a B4 form as "goods to follow". Then after you have landed, you should arrange to export it from the US (so you have to drive it TO the US to do this at the US CBP office) and then import it into Canada - with the stamped B4 form from your landing, you won't have to pay taxes on it, you will just have to go through the normal vehicle import process (which does include a fee, but that's not a "tax") and do the inspection/conversion/recall letter work.

After over two years of waiting, LA has finally broken their silence. My Ecas status changed to "decision made" yesterday. OMG! Wow! Unbelievable! I cant describe this feeling but I know now that the end is near and COPR is right around the corner.

So just logged in and saw this:

A decision has been made on (wife's name)'s application. The office will contact (wife's name) concerning this decision.

Sooooo... is that a good sign? I'm assuming it is? :)

It should be since the rejection rate on an application in Ottawa is about 5 or 6%. May I ask when you filed your application?

Wow, congrats! That was very fast. Did you get a PPR request or anything?
