Here is my timeline :

Category........: PR
Visa Office......: Transfered from Buffalo to Ottawa (?) (but confirmed by email)
App. Filed.......: 20-07-2011
AOR Received.: 10-11-2011
File Transfer...: 10-11-2011
Med's Request: 10-11-2011
Med's Done....: Medical done on Jan 10, 2012 - Ecas updated on Jan 25
Passport Req..: Waiting
VISA ISSUED...: Waiting

congrats gs13..one my friend's has a similar time line as you, and he also received the passport-request 2 weeks ago.

1. the last line on his ECAS status is same as yours. So does this mean, that they never explicitly state that one's application has been approved??

2. Also, who issues the PPR and updates the ECAS? is it people at Ottawa or Detroit?

3. Lastly, do you have any idea, how long does it take for Detroit to mail back the passports?? (my friend enclosed a canada post return envelope. Did you do similarly?)

1) ECAS does not specify as to what is the final decision
2) My PPR request came from the office in Ottawa and they asked me to send PP to Detroit office
3) I have received the passports today, Sep 4th, and I can see on the COPR that the issue date is 21/08/12. I did send'em an "xpresspost" envelope so that return of passports is faster.

yes happens all the time.....no issues with application received status

My eCas still says "application received" and " medicals received" only but I recently got my GCMS and they clearly say my file is In Process, so it seems just a problem of missing eCas update by CIC agents

Here it is:
Application filed: 20th Jan,2012
AOR and ME recieved: 20th Feb,2012.
Medical Done: 7th March,2012.
In process: 17 July,2012.
PPR: 4 Sept,2012.

I think his GCMS suggest Criminality In Progress, thats why
