Hmm ... if CIO receives around (at the most) 1500 applications in a month the cap will reach in less than 4 months' time. So I am guessing by September, the overall cap should have reached.
What do you guys think?

Still, I dont think it will reach cap of 12,000 people. At least not any time soon

4311 Police officers (except commissioned)

do they allow foreign workers to become cops?

Agreed! Numbers don't lie!

TFWs as cops? Don't think so.

This one's interesting:
The CEC cap will be re-set at 8,000 applications, as of May 1, 2014, to cover the transition period leading up to Express Entry.

Thanks for sharing!

What's confusing is, if from May 2014 they will accept 8000 applications or if the overall cap has been reduced to 8000 from 12000. I understand it as the former case

Good news for people whose NOC B sub-caps are getting close.

I reckon that 8,000 applications will be reached by the end of October anyway (based on the current application rate of about 1,300 per month).

Yup! Seems like it. I'd be really displeased if cic decides to process 25000 fsw applications and reduced cec applications. I mean we've already proven that we can live, work and contribute to canada. So I think this means we have a new cap (brand new slate) from May 01, 2014.

Also as per the backgrounder, the new caps are effective May 1, 2014

fair point.
everything becomes 0 again because express entry will be launched no earlier than in january????

Don't get it, guys :) I plan to apply in May so this makes me a bit confused.

Everything will be reset from May 1st, and counting starts again from 0 or they will just reduce number from 12,000 to 8,000 total?

Sounds more like the cap will be changed from 12,000 to 8,000.

Canadian Experience Class:
This program is for people who already have skilled work experience in Canada and want to immigrate permanently.

- Overall cap of 8,000 applications
- Sub-caps of 200 applications each for any NOC B occupation

In other words, this is the last year for CEC and all other economic immigration programs... so if u r not one of those 8000.. you will never be able to immigrate..

EOI programs starting in January 2015 , are too difficult for people to immigrate, they will ask you to send a permanent job offer , before you come to Canada..

This government is changing the whole thing and making immigration hard.. ::) ::)

Correct. However, I think this does not mean a reduction in the overall cap, but just that they're going to accept more CEC applications from May till December.

So you think they'll accept less then 2,000 more and that's it? When the overall cap reach 8,000 they'll close CEC program?
