I think you can expect a response in 20 to 25 days time from the date CIO received your application.

Hi Toby,

I sent my application 25 march and recieved by CIC on 28th march.Any guess when I will get my AOR if CIC processes it at this rate?
Looks like CIC is working overtime these days :)

The number of applications for NOC 6235 reduced from 51 to 50. And I am quite sure it did too for 1212, from 51 to 50.

It's still unclear for an application that claims several NOC B applications, whether it is counted in the quota for all those occupations.

For example, let's say you have filed under NOC B and NOC A and let's assume that you had one year of work experience and filed your application.

When CIO receives your application, they will count both the NOC A and NOC B. Let's assume that the occupation cap for NOC B when they receive your file, has been filled. In which case, they can only count your NOC A work experience and this will lead to your application being returned/rejected because you don't have enough work experience to qualify for CEC.

I hope this makes sense.

Interesting point, I would think it's either the one that was longest or the one that is most recent?

Who knows, maybe it's whatever the IO feels like when they are updating the list.

I should say "claims several NOC B occupations", not "applications".

Of course once a NOC B sub-cap is full, as Hope points out, that NOC code can no longer be used to claim work experience, and if the remaining experience is not enough, they'll return the application package.

If the most recent occupation that you filed under is sufficient, then they will only consider that occupation. I think most applicants file for CEC PR when they have 1 year or a little bit over a year of work experience. If an applicant is filing under multiple occupations and if the occupation cap for one of those occupations is full, then naturally a VO will not count that work experience. In this case, it is upto the remaining NOCs that an applicant has filed under, to support the CEC application. If not, then most likely it will be returned.

Another thing that I have recently observed is that a credit card getting charged has always been considered to be a good thing. This might change very shortly as some of the NOC occupations start getting filled. I am basing this assumption on my very own experience under a different PR stream.
I believe that possibly a junior CIO VO will check if an application is complete. If it is, then they charge a credit card. Next it goes onto a senior CIO VO who determines if it is eligible to be processed. If not, then the applicant is informed and processing fees are refunded. If it is then the applicant gets an AOR.
Up until now we haven't seen this in CEC because nearly everyone who has filed a complete application which meets MI, has been sent off to processing (because no occupation caps have been reached yet).
I believe this might slowly change in the next couple of months.
Just my two cents ... :)
No one really knows how CIO/CIC works. All we can do is hope that things work out when it's turn. Simple!

Still, I dont think it will reach cap of 12,000 people. At least not any time soon
