Cost?

Have I read the cost correctly? If I am sponsoring my husband for PR, and he lives in India currently and I am in Canada (born Canadian), it's 75.00 for my sponsor application and 450 for his PR application? So I pay 550 total?

Also, I am a bit nervous paying online and sending application by mail. How do they keep track the link between who pays what and which applications it goes with? (I have not actually applied yet, just filling out the paperwork now). BUt how do they keep track that the payment actually goes with my application?

Yes the costs on the website are correct, the cost for the principal applicant is quite high.
My receipt was for $1040 for my wife. It was the $450 plus something else.
I think you may be missing something, I think the cost is higher than just $550, please double check.

As for keeping track, they send you a receipt and the files will receive a barcode indicating payment.
If it's by credit card it is all trackable do not worry, the fees are processed accurately.
Ensure you keep copies of all receipts and paperwork but our payment went through without issue.

It is $75 + $475 (not $450), but your total of $550 is correct. The remaining fee for RPRF ($490) should also be included upfront, if possible.

You simply print off two copies of the payment receipt and include one with the applications.

I don't have that much right now and it will take me a few months to save over a thousdand dollars... (even though I make as much as I do but I am running the entire household myself) I cant however get 550 fairly quickly... what is this 490 other fee?

This is all I see listed So only the first two apply to us dont they?? The ones I bolded...

It's the Righ of Permanent Residence Fee. You must pay it before the PR visa will be issued (but you don't have to pay it up front).

Yes, this is the fee I couldn't remember in my above post.
So the total is around $1000, actually it cost us $1500 because I paid $500 in translation fees for English copies of all the relevant documents.
They do accept credit card.

damn I actually hadn't properly looked at the costs yet, not much of a choice eh. The whole process is about 10times the costs in the Netherlands. Not to mention the at least 100 times the preperation time for it nor the processing time (it took us less than 2 months here)

in regards to making a payment :

You can also pay at any bank, you will need to order the right form from CIC (or order it online) then take it to the bank to make your payment, the bank teller will stamp it be sure to add the stamped copy into your application package, and keep your portion for your personal records.

You don't have to pay the PR fee upfront (your choice) but you have to pay the $550 when submitting your application.
