Hello,

I have received a call from CIC and they told me that my wife is approved and ready to come into Canada. The CIC agent told me the COPR letter will be sent to me and it should arrive within a week? Does that time frame sound accurate? It seems like fast to me I can not believe it. My wife is a US citizen and her application is being processed at Ottawa.

Also when she gets the COPR letter, do we just go to the border at any time or does it have to be within business hours? and do we have to cross into the US because she is living with me in Canada as a visitor right now.

Thanks guys

I think Ottawa is pretty fast with COPR, so I would expect it within a week or two (unless holiday mess it up). But who knows...

Since she is in Canada you can go to any border and do "flagpoling". Search this forum for that term, many others have done the same, so you will be able to find lots of explanations.

You can go to the nearest USA land border at any day or time to land as PR. You need to go to US side of border first, and re-enter the Canadian side in order to land. If you tell US officer you are just there to flagpole to land as Canadian PR, they should point you in the right direction.

Thank you so much guys, Hopefully it comes in the mail soon :D. Do I need to go to the US side of the border even if my wife is an American Citizen?

Yes, you have to go to the US side, because to land you need to actually leave Canada, or be refused entering US.

it takes as long as it takes canada post to deliver it. the COPR comes in regular mail in a brown envelop and does not take long to get from Ottawa. it took only 5 days to get to me in CT in the states.
