From what I understood, they mentioned people with exemptions (like copr approved before March 18, etc) can travel if coming from country other than US.

For US, they mentioned, travel only if the travel is essential and there is a list of essential activities like study, work, etc.
I got the below language from IRCC's website. My understanding is that the rule for foreign nationals coming from a country other than the U.S. is stricter, they have to be both exempt from travel restrictions and traveling for essential purposes. But for the U.S., anybody can travel as long as it's for essential purposes.

The list they give for essential travel is just for examples, not a full list of activities. I'm not sure if my understanding is correct, though...

Who can enter Canada
You can travel to and may be permitted to enter Canada if you’re a

  • Canadian citizen
  • Canadian permanent resident
  • person registered under Canada’s Indian Act
  • protected person
  • foreign national who is coming for an essential (non-discretionary) purpose from the United States (U.S.)
  • foreign national who is coming for an essential (non-discretionary) purpose from a country other than the U.S. and are exempt from the travel restrictions (see Exemptions to the travel restrictions for more information)

I can confirm that CBSA is in line with this. I just called them and they just said that COPRs issued before that date can get in even if they are non-essential.

I figured your English isn't that good. It says
Quoting from the IRCC email:
"Use the issuance date on your CoPR to determine if you were approved before, on, or after March 18, 2020. If possible, we encourage you and your accompanying family members to arrive in Canada at the same time."

I figured your English isn't great. They are encouraging families to travel together, not encouraging people actually travel before visa expires.

Yes you are the only one with great English here. Now give us the reference to the false information that you posted about 3 to 6 months of extension without ré medicals...
What you are doing here is stating speculation as facts

I hope and pray so.
You did not pray well enough in past that why it is happening. Just kidding. I think we might get 6 months auto extension on medicals which means we should be ready to fly within Oct or Nov 2020 (including passport re stamping time). For this things have to improve after June/July with "new normal" lifestyle in place.

Talking about correct and verified information, where did you read this? Please post the reference link here.
Nope I won't but when you later get the communication you will come back here and tell me I was right. Then I will tell you I know I was right and show you how I knew for certain.

I am not speculating. I know for a fact.

Alright, just got off the call with CBSA and the lady said that if I got my COPR before March 18 (which I have), I can fly over to Canada, even if am not an essential worker. Also, she asked me to send an email to CBSA too, to have that in writing and asked me to carry all the IRCC emails to the Port of entry etc.
The 14 day quarantine thing applies and I should have a plan.

@raxx.cater
Better if we get it in written from both cbsa and ircc.
I will drop an email today to both.

Well for all our sake I do hope you are right
@CanV and @saad_im we encourage you to do fist fight by maintaining social distancing norms :| Lets defer the discussion about medicals when services will resume. I think it's useless to speculate anything at the moment as no one has experienced this situation in past.

Hahaha, I am a peaceful person and never resort to violence. Although I do like your suggestion.. Maybe settle it over an online PubG match. Kidding.
