COPR and coronavirus

To be honest, I thought I was allowed to travel because I have a valid Visa and COPR (even though the documents were issued on September 17th). Maybe I didn't quite understand.
If anyone can enlighten us it will be very much appreciated.

I thought visa is COPR. what's the difference please?

How the authorisation letter to travel depends of the country of residence please?

If you are a resident of US, then the criteria is different.

Hopefully something good comes from this. I've submitted a ready to travel webform in July, Aug, Sep and Oct. All with extra supporting documents each time. Those aren't quite ghost updates. If you go back a few pages on this thread, you will notice that quite a few of us have been seeing these kind of updates that seem to be going around in a loop. For me, this has become a daily routine. I sometimes see approved in the morning when I log in and I see the medical pass update when I log in later. It has all amounted to nothing unfortunately.

Having said that, there is no saying that you might not actually end up with something positive because every case is different and every case officer working on the file is handling things differently but just don't get your hopes high solely on those cyclic updates.

Ghost update is one where your application status is changed to "Application/profile is updated" and when you visit your application status reverts back to original. Take everything else as an amusement to kill the waiting time for AL/eTA/CoPR extension.

Have you received PPR email (Passport Request email) lately to submit your passport? Not sure what is this "Ready for VISA" email. What is your country of residence and your Visa Office which is processing your application?

Travel Experience with Letter of Authorization on 28th Oct

Travelled from my hometown to Toronto via Delhi on Air India. While checking in at the airport, i was told that they would check me in till Delhi as the visa and Letter of Authorization (AL) would have to be verified at Delhi. I reached Delhi 4 hours prior to the Toronto flight departure. Had to pick up the bags from the domestic baggage belt and go to the 2nd floor Departures in T3 for recheck in. I was directed to the E Aisle of ticketing. There was a special line at the front where the travel documents were being verified by the airline staff. They took pictures of the Visa, CoPR and AL and sent them for verification to IRCC or the Embassy (Not sure which one). Average time of response was 10-15 mins. Was also asked to sign an indemnity form for any deportation or quarantine issues. Once they got a response, the staff wrote “OK TO BOARD” with some confirmation number on the back of the indemnity form. After that I was directed to the ticketing counter where the bags were checked in and the person checking in took photographs of Visa, CoPR and AL again. Once the boarding passes were issues, had to go through immigration. I was asked a lot of questions and after that they put the departure stamp on my passport. The whole process took 2.5 hours, and I reached the gate barely half an hour before boarding started. The 14.5 hours flight to Toronto was torturous with the mask and face shield on all the time except for eating or drinking water. Once we landed in Toronto, the immigration and the customs processes were quick and hassle free. The only things asked were the address to which the PR card had to be sent and if I had more than 10K CAD money in hand.

Overall, it was a long and exhausting journey but had to be done for completing the landing process before Oct 31. I really hope IRCC takes a more sensible approach for all the expired CoPRs instead of this mess which has left everyone deflated and confused.

Did they checked if your COPR is issued before March 18 or asked you anything about it? I saw in many discussions that they are not applying this rule on the airport and that some COPR holders post March 18 landed already.

hey, my husband and I are in the same boat. I completely understand feel for you. My heart and prayers go out to you. Please don’t take any hasty step as we all will get through this extremely difficult time. I hope that Canada IRCC understands that all of us are stuck and we need to get to Canada as our savings are draining, we are jobless, hopeless and they have to allow us. We put our faith in them and chose that country for living, they should also help us when we need them. Pls stay strong, there is more to life.You shall get it soon.

Can you please brief us about the questions asked at Delhi immigration and what exactly is mentioned on AL as our Visa has expired?
Also, were you travelling alone or with family?

Did they checked if your COPR is issued before March 18 or asked you anything about it? I saw in many discussions that they are not applying this rule on the airport and that some COPR holders post March 18 landed already.

All the airline is doing is checking with IRCC or NDVO by sending pictures of travel documents. If they receive a positive response, people are being allowed to board.

This is how it is as I understood . Even if you have received a COPR you can only travel if you fall under one of the following categories. Check if you fits in one of them. If not you are not allowed to travel now
1. Your COPR must have issuesd on or before March 18th

2.the COPR was issued after March 18, 2020 and you are an immediate family member sponsored by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (note that grandparents are not considered immediate family members and cannot come to Canada at this time)

3. you’re currently living in the U.S. and will be coming to Canada directly (transiting through the U.S. to Canada doesn’t apply)

but there some professions which allows you to enter into Canada even if you don’t fulfill any of the above Conditions

Stay positive. Can understand how you you feel. I was also frustrated with the way IRCC handled stuff. You will definitely get the required travel documents soon. Just hold on and don’t lose hope.

keep my cool since last 6 months. Not only these 6 months infact this whole journey needs to be considered. From IELTS to documentation and then the copr now this waiting game. I don't know how much more.
