Okay so I am following my husbands immigration guide. Now on the identity and civil status documents it is asking for his sponsors(me) of my birth certificate and of course his information. And on the Travel Documents and passport it is asking for his and the sponsor(me) passport and of course my Mexico immigration card because I reside with him. Am I missing something??? Because also it asks me the sponsor to provide my passport and birth certificate on the document checklist. Why am I having to provide this information in the application more than once??? Do my person documents go with my part of the application or his???? So lost and confused!!

Your `package' should have three sections:

1. Application to Sponsor- forms and all required documents (for you)

2. Application for PR- forms and all required documents (his)

3. Evidence of relationship.

Okay so no copies of my personal documents(passport, immigration card, birth certificate, etc) would go in his supporting documents right? I would put that all in mine correct? I am just going my immigration guide as it is for him and it is asking him for some of my documents which really confuses me!!!!

Since you are submitting an Outland application, perhaps you should include copies of your passport, birth certificate and Mexican immigration card...just in case.

For Inland applicants, redundant copies are not needed, because the entire application stays together during the process.

I'll defer to others, but IMO, there's no harm in including copies.

Yeah I am following the guide. I am just wondering if I put my documents(birth cert, passport, etc ) with his documents as it is requesting him for my documents. Or if I should just put that information with my documents

I agree, better to have then duplicated unnecessarily than missing! The one I did the applicant section didn't request sponsors info with it, but the Mexican one must be different. Copy and paste where the guise says that and we'll look at the wording?

Here is what it says exactly on the immigration guide:

11. Travel documents and passports
Passports or travel documents for you, your spouse or common law partner and dependant children. Include only copies of the following pages:
-passport number
-date of issue and expiration
-your photo,name,surname
-date and place of birth

If you reside in a country different from your nationality , include a copy of your visa for the country in which you currently reside. If your sponsor is Canadian citizen and is residing with you in country of residence, copy of the valid migratory document granted to your sponsor

Ah...Now I get it.

That would apply to the spouse of the primary applicant if that spouse was also being sponsored. In this case, you (the spouse of the applicant) is the sponsor.

I think you only need your Mexican immigration document.

Hi Ponga
I am a PR of canada and acquired the status through FSW 2014 program on 9th sept 2015. I am planning to get married in april 2016 is it possible for me to apply PR for my spouse as well, in the same year. As i am pretty new to canada and i have a (part time) survival job. Is it still possible for me to sponser my spouse ? Please guys i am new to family sponsorship, i will really appreciate your guidance.

I think that means spouse except in the case of your spouse being your sponsor. There's a separate sheet that talks about that somewhere.. lemme see if I can find it.

Yes, you can sponsor your spouse right after you get married. As you are a PR, you have to stay in Canada during the sponsorship process, though short trips away are OK.
The government wants to know that you can support your spouse once she gets here, but there is no income requirement. You at least have a job. I have only seen one case where the sponsorship was refused because the visa officer did not believe the sponsor could support his spouse. You should be OK.
