Hey guys, I have been living with a partner of mine since 2023 but we could only live for 8 months straight and then for 4 months my partner was in a different country and after her return we have been cohabiting for like 9 months so not quite the 12 month mark. And I am planning to lodge my citizenship application, from my understanding I am still single and not common law because we haven’t cohabited for 12 months straight. Or Do I need to declare my partner as a common law still? Or do i update ircc via webform while application is in process after hitting 12 months together straight(which would happen when application is in process). Any advice would be appreciated!

Yeah thats what I understood too, thank you for that. Its just I saw a video of a consultant online who said you need to declare common law as soon as you start living with that person in your immigration application no matter 12 month mark which felt weird to me as well, because rule says 12 months clearly.
If you're reeeeaaaaally stressing over this, pick any of the possibilities, and add an explanation letter. The officer working on your application will read it once, forget about it because it doesn't matter, and never take it into account during the processing, but if it gives you some peace of mind, go for it.
