    2023 Citizenship Applications

Everything complete but an application stalling for this long is inacceptable. Did you try contacting your MP? A little push from an MP may be all you need at this point.

    Previous visa dates

Student visas are indeed needed, so disregard part of my above message But same answer as above : it doesn't really matter for IRCC. Both "same day" and "successive days" are fine. Pick one, if the system allows it and doesn't throw you an error, stick to it, else go with the other.

    2023 Citizenship Applications

LOL I understand that some comments from experienced members can feel a little bit dismissive when someone is stuck in the machine, but I doubt anyone would complain about matter-of-factly stuff straight from CanLII. :D

    Previous visa dates

What visa type is this? If it's a tourist visa, you don't even need to put it in the citizenship application, especially since we're talking here about 40 days or so, regardless of how you split them up. Also, the answer to your original question, if you still want to list your US visa, is ...

    2023 Citizenship Applications

Dunno what the longest would be, but here are 2 recent citizenship cases where mandamus put a stop to security checks that lasted more than 4 years : Jebelli : https://canlii.ca/t/kb3t5 Almasi : https://canlii.ca/t/kdtp6 For both, IRCC had no justification to defend the delay except the blanket...

    2023 Citizenship Applications

Nop. Would be too nice. It's mostly an observation, we've seen people get theirs wrapped in 2 years or so, but there are no stats to actually back it up, and obviously, it's at best a fingers crossing expectation for people nearing 2 years of SS, but it could absolutely take much longer. Every...

    2023 Citizenship Applications

Sometimes, IRCC doesn't bother with the criminality renewal till security is done. It will probably happen once they have a look again after security.

Question to people with in-person Oath Ceremony

Again, if there is no confirmation needed on the email you got, you don't need to confirm anything. What you saw on the internet could be outdated, or simply a different IRCC office handling things a little bit differently in another city or for a specific ceremony. In all cases, all you need to...

Advice on calling IRCC getting more information

2 possibilities : 1) both your security and your physical presence are complex. 2) IRCC is sleeping a bit on your application, and in practice it doesn't change anything. When they check your physical presence and language is not gonna lengthen the processing if a long background check is in the...

Advice on calling IRCC getting more information

Have a look at the 2023 applicants threads. The majority of people still active there are stuck in background. So yeah, plenty of people are going through it.

GCMS notes say 'I do not appear to meet physical presence requirement'. Referred to PS for review/decision. What to do now?

You can either wait, and who knows how long it takes to validate your physical presence, in which case there's nothing to do, IRCC will contact you if they need anything, or you can apply again with a better buffer with no "questionable days". Your call really.

Canada Citizenship application sent back - Need help

True that, but we unfortunately don't know what that section looks like for you. Have you made sure you covered the whole 5 years period? With no gaps at all? If everything seems correct and another pair of eyes validated it, we can't rule out a mistake from the IRCC officer who reviewed your...

Canada Citizenship application sent back - Need help

Your query is way too generic for others to be helpful. Maybe you can have a friend or family go through your application with you?

    Change of family situation

Both the marriage and the divorce could have been made with the home country authorities, whose rules are different. So, feasible I suppose. But in all cases, doesn't really matter. Being married for half a year, and divorcing right after PR may suggest it was a sham marriage, aka immigration...

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

The only thing that matters is when you left actually left Canada and when you actually entered Canada. As such, it doesn't matter if the flight took 30 minutes or 3 days, and it doesn't matter what dates where printed on your plane tickets. Also, IRCC agents, as is everyone, are aware that an...

Explanation of Address History Dates.. Urgent !!

It doesn't matter which country "takes" that day of transit. Pick Canada or India for that and move on.

Explanation of Address History Dates.. Urgent !!

Are you speaking here about your address history? That question asks for days, not only months and years? If so, it's fine if you're a day or 2 off compared to reality to adjust to the system limitation, IRCC doesn't care really, as long as your physical presence history is precise.

    2023 Citizenship Applications

Both the question of how things work VS how people perceive things work in their own personal situation are valuable, albeit maybe "contradictory". Yep, there is relative transparency and knowledge about how the whole process works, but that knowledge feels more academic and theoretical at this...

Residence and Work/School Sections in Online Citizenship Applicatiion

Keep it simple and avoid unnecessary documents, including LOE for mundane stuff. IRCC's only goal with work history is to assess physical presence. Minor discrepancies (with an application they probably won't cross-check) are fine as long as your physical presence is both precise and with...

Residence and Work/School Sections in Online Citizenship Applicatiion

    1) Doesn't really matter, but if I had to pick something, it would be the precise answer, the parents address for that summer. 2) Students are not unemployed. 1 single entry for the whole period spent in university (or more than one if, say, bachelor and master, or master and PhD...), and...
