Hi guys, I'm sure this is a really stupid question but I just want to be absolutely 100% certain. I don't want to break any laws.

I applied for a visitor extension and was approved. I thought I was applying to extend my stay by 1 month, but when the visitor record came in the mail, it states that I must leave Canada by March 2015, giving me exactly 6 months from the date the record was issued.

I assume this means I was approved to stay another six months, until March 2015, but as I didn't even realize this was an option, I want to make sure.

I don't want to overstay and end up breaking the law.

Thanks!

Don't assume anything, the record states clearly that you got an extra 6 months.

Obviously I don't WANT to assume anything...hence...the title...asking specifically for clarification? Also why I explained my asking in the first place.

An admission to enter Canada as a visitor is normally given for 6 months, and so is the extension of stay, unless a different period is specified by the officer at the port of entry or in the approval of extension. So yes you can stay until the date specified in the approval notice.
