what can i do if my employer is asking for more illegal money while am on a lmia based work permit under him and just 1 year away from PR?

Then I'm not sure what you should do. The best option may be to get a consult with an immigration lawyer on your situation.

If you already paid the employer for a LMIA you’re in no position to start getting all ethical about things
No position at all
i didnt paid him , i was asked for the job and an employee was in demand but later on he asked for money , and he said it will cover for the fees of lawyer when i will apply for PR. but again he asked for money. which in no way is legal.

Record the conversations when he asks for money. Submit them to IRCC when you report him. If you can’t record them, report him anyway.

How did you find this job? You say “more” money. Did you pay to secure the job? Unfortunately this is not uncommon although illegal. It is usually done through a consultant.

If you report him, you will most likely be terminated and you don't have much to stand on because your immigration status is tied to your work permit.

Even if IRCC find your position justified, it's not going to change the underlying situation, which is as an employer he can fire you without cause. So unless you can move to another company in Canada or you're ready to return to your home country, the nuclear option of reporting him will probably lead to your dismissal and the revocation of your work permit, meaning you would have to leave Canada.

I found many answers in this forum that it is legal to remain in Canada until a work permit expires even if you were laid off.
On a closed work permit you're only allowed to work for that employer.

If you mean just to remain to reside then yes you can do that until the expiration of your work permit, but if you can't work what would be the point?

You're thinking of an open work permit.
You're thinking about working for another employer on a closed WP, but I am about legally staying in Canada after being laid off while a work permit is still valid - it is different things.

Yes, i figured as much which is why i edited my post to reflect that.

If you want to remain just to stay without working, have at it. I'm not sure what the point of that would be though.
