7 months from paper sending to passport reception. I feel it is not too bad as I went there twice during this period. We plan to wait a couple of years before coming back to China but we will. Canada is a wide country having many wonderful places to visit ;D!

I think it's been easier on us because we both live in China at the moment. However, we have both left our jobs and are waiting for her passport to arrive. Almost feel like we have nothing to do but wait which seems to make time slower.

...we were thinking of traveling in BC for a few days to break up the long flight from Shanghai to Toronto.

An update (of sorts):

We are still waiting for my wife's passport to be returned. It's now been 23 days since our DM2.

Have tried to send them an email? We did a couple of times. I remember doing it 3 weeks after DM2. I sent an email every day until they answered. I put the number of days since DM2 in the subject of the email. They could see it increasing and I guess they decided to come with one of their generic answer but at least, we got one!

Let us know when you will have something new. Have they changed the home address in eCAS?

We sent an email last week, but got the standard reply that they may not reply. However, after next Wednesday, we will be starting a daily email as it will mark 4 weeks since the DM2.

Her home address has not been changed in eCAS.

Visa arrived in mail. BUT WRONG ADDRESS!

Hey everyone,

My wife has received her passport back from the Beijing VO, today, October 8th, 2012.

We had the 2nd Decision Made (DM2) on September 12th, 2012 (25 days to arrive).

We're excited BUT...they sent it to our old address! On the eCas website, they have an option to "contact them" directly underneath your listed mailing address.

We followed that process and received an auto-generated email saying that they received our email. In that email, they state that if our request was about a change of address or phone number, that we would probably NOT get a direct reply confirming such change. But, they assured us that they would update the address. I suppose replying to so many address change emails would be far too time consuming and I appreciate and understand the need for auto-generated replies.

However, we never saw an updated address on our eCas profile. So when the Beijing VO requested my wife's passport, we also included a letter reminding them that we had changed our address and even supplied them with the new address again.

Still by the time we saw our eCas status updated to DM2, our address had not been updated. So, once again, we emailed them and got the same generic reply as before. I just figured that Visa Officer updated their file but not the whole system.

Finally when the Passport came back, of course it was sent to our OLD address. The strange thing was that they did UPDATE my wife's phone number (we updated that originally with our first email to them in August, 2012) so when the delivery guy came, he called my wife to let her know her package had arrived.

Why did they update our phone number, but not our address? Human error? Glitch?

Anyway, we're still so excited! Just be warned that if you change your address and don't see it updated on eCas, there is a strong possibility that your immigration documents will go to your OLD address.

e-CAS Process notification steps ?

Hi,

Just wondering if some of those with experience in the process could let me know about getting information after you've submitted your application ? Currently, for us, the e-CAS just shows the sponsor date approval and the same date for file transfer (July 19). So we are going on about 6 weeks now without hearing anything after sponsor approval (which was relatively quick at 45 days or so).

1. After sponsor approval what are the steps that CIC will notify us on eCAS during the applicant review? e.g. when the file is transferred; when the file needs/doesn't need interview etc.

2. By the way, what is a DM2?

3. At what point should I start e-mailing Beijing to see if they got our application and for other information? Do they mind this, or perhaps its a good thing to show them we care about what they do! ;D

November 1st. Lol, we don't have anyone to pick us up on Halloween, otherwise we'd go on Oct. 31st.

1. You might get an email when your file goes "in process", but not everyone does. But they will update your eCAS to "in process" and depending on the Visa Office your using, you should see that update soon.

2. DM2 is the final decision made on your application. DM1 is for the sponsorship approval, DM2 is for the applicant.

3. You can email them anytime, but getting a real reply for will take multiple attempts. The more emails you send them, the more likely you are to get a response.

They will most likely just update your eCAS profile to Decision Made. That's what happened for my wife.

They just updated on ecas status from "in process" to Decision Made" and they also updated my wife address to my canada address. but the update only stated Edmonton, Alberta, Canada instead of my full Edmonton Canada address. Should i leave it that way or should i update it myself since there is an option for me to do so now?

No, no...just leave the address as is...they don't put your full address in e-cas, just the city, province, and country.

Congratulations!! You made it through!!

Expect to have the passport within about 10 days!
