Child dependent questions.

Hi
I am currently filling in paperwork for my Canadian husband to sponsor me.
Questions I have and would appreciate any help at all...
1) I am asked about dependents. I have two kids who are Canadian through my husband. We are currently waiting for their citizenship certificates. Do I still fill in these forms with their details (on forms 'Generic' and 'Additional Dependents')?
2). If so, they are Canadian and British through descent and American through their birth. What should I answer for their citizenship? The form only allows for two answers. Or should I just hand write the third?
3). I am asked to send in recent pictures of all family members with my paperwork. Should that include them if they are already Canadian by their own merit? What about my husband?

So much to digest and I'm so confused and overwhelmed!
Any help would be appreciated!

You don't need to include them as dependents in your application because they would soon be Canadian citizens.

Be sure to check your 'regional/country' guide for specifics. I have previously responded similarly as above, but based on 'regional/country' requirements ended up being incorrect. Where is your application going to be processed out of?

Thank you for both of your responses. Much appreciated! I live in the States - I have been here for the past seven years (both children born here). But I gather that I can also apply from the UK as I am a British Citizen. I am leaning towards going the UK route as the turnaround time is apparently 9 months in comparison to New York which would be the closest place to me now (and 13 months). Would that make a difference?

Your application would not be processed in New York. It would go to Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa.

Children that are Canadian citizens only need to be declared on the Additional Family Information form. No other form. You do not have to send the PR size pictures of them or your spouse either.

On the CIC website there is this "interactive" map. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-map.asp?q=2 If you choose your country (in this case USA, so click on Washington DC icon), the pop up box shows for Immigration processing your VO is CPP-O (Ottawa). If you are a citizen of one country and resident of another you can choose between the two responsible VO's, but not any VO within a country. In the US, there are other Visa Offices (LA and NY) but they process other types of applications. However, after submitting an application, CIC occaisionally transfers files to the other two offices instead of Ottawa. It's not apparent why a very few get transferred to one of the US offices, but you don't get a choice.

Good luck with your application.

Almost right. CPP-O would transfer the file. Transfers are done due to backlogs normally. But, and this is an educated guess, if they felt an interview was necessary and the person was living in the US, the file would likely be transferred to one of the remaining open consulates in the US.

The US office used to be Buffalo but it closed last May. Now CPP-O is processing all of their applications for PR. And yes, you could still choose London since you're a UK citizen. But if your choice is US processing, then the visa office to identify is CPP-O.

Thank you all your help.
So - to clarify - if I wanted to have my visa processed in the UK then I would follow the guidelines for West Europe[IMM 3901] (PDF, 248 KB) (even though I have spent the past seven years as a resident of the US). I would then send my forms to Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario and they would forward them to London, UK.
Sorry to be a little slow on this one. I am very overwhelmed by this all. I am keen to get this sorted and right and see from various info that the UK would be faster at processing than the US...
Thank you!

In both instances you send the applications to Mississauga. On the IMM0008 you identify what visa office is requested to process your file. You use whatever checklist is appropriate for the visa office processing. Once CPC-M does their thing, they will forward to the correct visa office.
