Hi,

Have you sent your sponse's old passport as well? I think we need to send the old passport along with new passport. Otherwise please send a CSE at your earliest.

Best regards,

We did not renew my spouse's passport because its expiration is exactly 12 months from medically date and 13 months from the medical request date..

Hi guys,

Congrats to everyone who got their PP's back. Got a question though :P I'll be landing on January for 2 weeks, is it true that if you wont be staying long they will refuse to give PR Card? I've read it somewhere in other threads. :o :o :o :o

You can land in Toronto as your point of entry, even if your final destination is in Calgary. No problem there. Your landing formalities will be done in Toronto, and once in Calgary you can apply for health card, SIN, etc. See Qorax's post here:

I read before, that if you landed in Toronto first then your medical insurance will be primarily there till you transfer it & if you care about studying loans, it is easier to get them from where you land

As per the CIC we need to carry around CAD 20,000 as POF. What are advantages and disadvantages in case if we carry say CAD 100,000 or above. Will it affect our welfare ( I. e.. Normally canadian government pays certain percentage of our salary as welfare for 10 months, in case if we redundant by the employer...

We need to think about this. Please share thoughts ...

You can spend a week in Toronto, before you go Alberta. It is permitted. However, that would mean that you would not be covered by health insurance in this initial period, as Ontario has a 3-month wait period. If you go to Calgary immediately, and apply for the health card, you get coverage from Day 1. So according to an example given by Qorax, he would recommend to connect directly to Alberta from Toronto to apply for health card, and then come back to Toronto for the visit (having your Alberta health coverage with you that would cover you for a couple of days).

See Qorax's post here (for that and also for other landing details):

there are no unemployment benefits ( EI ) till you have worked for min 18 months..., and govt doesn't pay any % of salary as welfare, if you have paid in EI then you get your money back, its like paying premium for insurance....
Now you could apply for social assistance , but as a new immigrant the chances are slim, specially in ON, due to lot of population...and the amount which will be given will be not even minimum wage , which is $ 10.25 per hour.

thanks GOD,
PPR-2 received
n
I sent passports through TCS, ll be delivered tomorrow morning
best wishes for all
