Guys what i am getting from all this is that we will be with our spouses real sooner then what we were expecting... i m guessing that if the files are genuine nd complete, by jan/feb we should get ppr's.... hopefully our files dont go to isl lolz

Yes this seems to be the general consensus but when I was talking to the CIC agent he told me that Ottawa told them that it will take them approximately 1 year to process a application but in June CIC closed the buffalo office and all the files have been transfers to Ottawa; so agent don't know how long will it take now.

Those of you who talked to an agent regarding the location of your application, what exactly did you say to the agent?

Ok I emailed cic ottawa about a week ago.

"I would like to know if my spousal sponser application is being processed in Ottawa or Islamabad?"

Today i got an email

"We would like to inform you that your family class application will be processed in Islamabad."

The issue here is i used the word "processed". Maybe that was not the right word because i think each file will be processed in Islamabad for visa stamp.

That means I still don't know where my file is. Though CIC agent told me it was in process with background checks and medicals. (Though i dont know where)

i contacted MPs office September 4 2012 with my situation. (filed wifes case in March with lawyer representation, online showing approved for step 1, wanted to find status).

MP called me today with further information: we are approved for step 1. file was sent to ottawa because the file is a Normal case which has sufficient supporting documentaiton. she assured that the application time in ottawa will be greatly reduced, which is good! wait until early December, if you do not see any progression online MP will intervene.

I got Aor from Mississauga and got Acknowledgement later from Islamabad But regarding ur post Only those cases will b sent to Islamabad which are not normal cases or having insufficient sporting documents?

Ok so I am so confused now. I got my AOR from Missisauga and a letter from missisauga saying that I am approved to sponsor and my file is transferred to islamabad. However, when I called CIC, they told me that my file is in Ottawa.

Where did u get your first AOR from? and what did the sponsorship approval letter say?

I got my AOR via email from CPP- Ottawa and I did not get any hard copy in the mail and it says it is transferred to Islamabad for further processing. But 1 month after getting AOR I called CIC Call Centre he told me that my file is moved to Ottawa for stage 2. I asked him why in email they sent me from Ottawa they stated that my file is transferred to Islamabad for further processing he said bcoz Islamabad is your officials visa office but Ottawa Pilot Project helping Islamabad to reduced some time

I emailed Ottawa on September 1, 2012 but still waiting for their reply. I emailed them bcoz my wife Contact Information Telephone # has been changed and I also sent an inquiry to Islamabad for this but still did not get reply from both sides.

it will be horrible if ottawa takes about 8-9 months to clear us and send our files to isl... and then they take another year or plus to get to our files and then ask for ppr or say our pcc is expired or something like that...

coz now its a straight forward case that who ever gets reply from ottawa has their files in ottawa, they do the same thing that isl would for checking our documentations etc, and genuineness of our relationships, then for ppr they send the file over to isl... now here is the tricky part, if our files are thrown back in the long lineup before they get touched, its guaranteed another long year + process, but if they have a separate line/system setup for our files where once ottawa sends it over isl quickly/promptly opens and sends ppr request, then it is prob a month or 2 with them...

I take it the MP here is member of parliament, the reason i ask this is because some MP office tell you to only contact them when the case is over the processing time line mentioned on CIC website.

timeline: married dec 30 2011, applied march 2012, online updated june 2012 with setp 1 decision made. no update in step 2, i contacted MP office sept 2012. they have a contact at ottawa and confirmed that they're processing my application at ottawa. MP called and said to contact her again if we do not see online updated in early december. so we will wait now...

call the number and when it asks for client ID, enter your ID WRONG. i find that this skips the que and i always get in! (well its worked for me whenever i've tried, hope it helpw/works. no harm in trying!)
