Congrats to all who got Passports back & PPR.

I am (my wife) is still waiting for PPR, file is with DMO since September.

Asalam o Alikum Friends,
I am a Pakistani citizen where as my wife is a Canadian citizen. We got married back in July 2010, she sponsored me for Spouse Visa (permanent residency) and as per CIC online record they received our application on 23rd Nov 2011. I have a question if anyone can answer or can guide me. I have been offered a job in Dubai and I am seriously considering it, however I need to know how much longer is my process going to take? As we are already in the 15th month of the process, is there any possible way anyone can share the exact timeline or if not exact any tentative time. It would help me in making my decision.

Thanks

Brother, i m from July 2011 case, still waiting for PPR for last 7 months, currently working in Abu Dhabi, UAE - i believe it will be a good decision for you not to wait for PPR and come to Dubai for work, if its really necessary. because CIC is handling cases on ordinary bases.

Thankfully we have recieved passport request from CHC-ISL at Pakistan address. However my wife is in Canada with me on visitor visa which is extended till next year. We are not sure if we can send the passport from here or should she travel herself to Pakistan on short notice. Please folks advice who ever has any exprience or knowledge about it.

Thanks and good luck to all

Hi,
As far as I know, there is no such way to send passport from Canada to Pakistan. It is illegal for courier companies in Pakistan to deliver passports (apart from the embassy correspondence). Secondly, the status of your wife in Canada would be illegal without her passport because the visa that legitimizes her stay will no longer be with her.

My wife went to Pakistan last month for the same reason. She was here on a student visa and had to leave in the middle of her semester. Though she had a study permit which could have legitimized her stay without a passport. We had to arrange tickets in a very short time as well :( and that too during the peak holiday season. She is still in Pakistan and waiting for her passport to be returned :(

Having said that, it does not mean that there cannot be other ways. I hope fellow members can comment on it.

Thanks for the detailed response

Salam,

Now I am not sure how long it would take for a new immigrant to take from the process of landing, plane arrival, and getting your baggage. But usually, As I have made a trip to Pakistan and back it takes about 15-30 minutes. There is some different scenarios for example.

Normal Trip back would be 15-30 minutes.

There is another case where when traveling you will see 4 S's on your ticket. That means they do special security checks on you for example they take you aside open your bags ask you where you are going, reason of trip, etc. If your husband has those on his tickets then the process of landing, arrivals, grabbing luggage and meeting you guys would take anywhere from 25-50 minutes.

These times are approximate and honestly there is nothing to worry about even if he has the 4 S's, all that means is they will ask him some extra questions and open his bag.

Hope this post helps.

Quick recap just in case anyone is confused.

Normal time frame: 15-30 minutes

4 S's Case: 25-50 minutes

Times may change depending on the lineup and how busy it is.

Regards,
