Guys just make sure that the places we are mentioning in letter have conservative majority !

anyone pls share list of MP by location won in canada's 2011 election so it could be easy to cross check the location we mentioned in the letter.

entire missisauga, brampton, and a no of ridings in Toronto has been won by conservatives for the first time, thanks to our ill informed Desi's who voted conservative or just split the vote between NDP and Librals, The other day I watched a video on CBC where the news anchor was interviewing people so she got in a cab of Pakistani driver and asked him, whom did you vote for and he said ........Conservatives ...... I used to vote for liberals ......asked him why he said .......... I dont like minority Govt, its unstable and I like immigration policies of Conservatives and then he told he is from Pakistan ........... so you guys can understand how stupid people can be ................anyways ....... we can also send copy of the letter to our local MP's as well, if we are living in a conservative riding

Hi guys,

I like the idea of the letter. Since dependent child also fall under the category of spouse/spouse/common-in-law. Is there any way we can highlight the fact to expedite the process of dependent children who are in Pakistan while parents residing in Canada.

Its been over a year since we applied for my niece case and have not heard anything yet from immigration, She is going to be 2 years old now. Its a curelity and so inhuman of immigration to keep dragging a case of dependent child.

My friend, this is an indication of how selfish we become when our purpose is solved. I know people who vote conservatives because these people are PR or Citizen now and their families are here so they dont want more people to come so their jobs remain saved.

Date: xx May, 2011
Mr. Jason Kenny
Honorable Minister for Citizenship and Immigration

Re: Spousal Visa processing time for applicants from Pakistan

Dear Honorable Minister,

I take the opportunity to congratulate your party for winning a sweeping majority from every corner of Canada, in particular from ridings with majority of voters with Pakistani background such as in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

I would like to bring to your kind attention that since 2008 (when it used to be 6 months), the spousal visa time frame at Canadian High Commission Pakistan has consistently been increasing and now in the last update has hit an all time high average time of 21 month (this excludes the 45 days time it takes at Processing office in Mississauga).

The emotional toll and suffering we have to go through during the waiting time is unbearable and cannot be described in words, it is of no question that it is the worst experience of all in one's life and puts an unnecessary stress on relationship, work performance and future goals, which I believe defies the spirit of family reunification as described in Citizenship and Immigration Act of Canada.

It is quite surprising and disturbing to witness that our neighbouring country (India) with identical culture and background has spousal visa processing time of only 6 months. I am not sure if unusual waiting time at Canadian High Commission Islamabad is due to reduction in spousal visa quota for Pakistan or understaffing issues at Canadian High Commission Islamabad but being a tax payer and active member of Canadian society I strongly feel that our community should not be subject to the pain and suffering ensuing from this extraordinary long waiting time just to reunite with our spouses.

I believe that your office will take the time and attention to look into the matter and help hundreds of Pakistani spouses in Canada and thousands of others relatives related to them. At the end we are only requesting your help on humanitarian grounds since you are our leaders and represent all of us in Canada and in our country of origin as well.

Thank you kindly,

I think there is no harm because you are on 21 months boat as-well - we are planning to complain about CHC-Isb spousal case processing time line and your letter will make this complain strong!
please feel free to make edits to the letter.

Jaania,

Plan is: All members will send the same templated letter via postal mail and by their own [instead of one letter, we will be sending 50 letters (same template) to Minister]. Problem is members do have privacy concerns and plus we all are living in different parts of the Canada so it's really hard to manage and send one letter.

BECOME A LONER,

We should draft one letter and pass is to every forum member to sign it and make one copy for ourself and then mail out the original letter with the signatures in blue ink. This is a lot more professional and will make a better impression.
What do you say forum members?

I think we need to select one media i.e.: either regular mail OR email?
We shouldn't be bombard their mail boxes and inboxes at the same moment; so, I would strongly suggest pick either email OR postal mail.

In my opinion postal mail is good as signature is required on that letter.

That will be a great idea if you have contacts in CBC, I have sent many emails directly to mark.kelly @ cbc.ca he acknowledged the mail but never took action and then sent to evan.solomon @ cbc.ca to no vail ......... I am perfectly fine with signing the letter but the feasibility is poor because forum members are scattered all across Canada and then we have to send the letter to everyone's mailing address which I am not sure if they will share their addresses with us or not ........ as we are all here by some unique alias and that shows how concerned we are ........ the other thing we can do is that if you can talk to your friend at CBC and provide her Official email, the forum members can send the email directly and this way they should not be concerned about it ............. any ideas?

The issue with replacing Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough, North York, Vancouver with Ontario, BC, Alerta is that GTA was their biggest Target in election campaign to win the.....ETHNIC VOTE ......... which they did win .......you get out of GTA or Greater Vancouver area and u wont see any ethnic vote there........... so that wont capture their attention as much as being very specific about it ....... and as much as everyone is free to add their city I dont think they won any new seats in Montreal .............. but members sending their individual mail can always add their city in the list .......... I do recommend to send a letter by mail because it obligates the communication office of PM and Minister to respond to it by writing than just deleting the mail ......... and I would advice to send them separate letters without indication of CC to PM or CC to Jason Kenny ...... also forward it to your local MP .......... and I think we should draft a letter for Jack Layton as well as he is big on family reunification ........ now who will write a letter for Jack Layton...........anyone?
