So you can for sure visit your family even if you are PR and it will not effect your application. Actually it will help your application because on ur visit you can take few pictures and sent it to CHC-ISL with the copy of your stamped passprt pages. It shows that you have original relationship and you went to visit your family.

Well, I just checked the CIC website and there are no restrictions. It says: " you can leave and re-enter Canada while your application is being processed as long as you meet all requirements to enter Canada" see the link below. They only suggest to not leave Canada if you have applied INLAND meaning in Canada process through vegreville. Hope that clears out some confusion.
