Hope the new EE is fair not only to student and ect... But for everyone well prepared, FSW from outside canada deserve a chance. Peace. :-*
Express Entry will be fair to those whom Canada want to get picked up/ITA by giving bonus points, this was made clear in the Refocusing Express Entry slide.

Obviously, the speech was made in an educational institution in India and of course he would focus on international students rather than mentioning French given that India in anglophone.

The aim was to attract international students.

I believe that Siblings and French would get most of it than international students as there are too many. But all of this remains to be seen.

Yes, same question, what that mean ?
He doesn't mention anything in their about French...

Anyway, I'm hoping this all seems positive. Reducing the times for families (not more points) and making it easier for students by giving them more points. I'm still going to go with the "if you have graduated and are currently working in Canada in a skilled job (no lmia) you get 600 points.

Stop worrying; scores would not rise that much as not each and everyone in the pool will be favoured by the reforms.

Score will drop at a point, it is expected to be below 400 spring next year. As Alex said in his video, those in the range 380 don't have to worry.

See I'm all for giving people more chance, but I just don't want it to push back those others (yes, like me) who are just as skilled but suddenly because I don't have a sibling in Canada or paid to take my degree over there, I'm suddenly back of the queue.
Well, giving points for Canadian degrees is understandable, as it's a way to attract more international students to Canada. Also these former students had, at least, contribute something to Canadian economy.

Not gonna lie... What I heard in that video was that students shouldn't be required to get an lmia. So maybe a rule such as "if you have graduated from Canada uni in last 5 years you do not need to apply for an lmia".
If you listen carefully in the first video from 1:20-1:28 he said that we will give additional points to intl students and that will become express entry for international student. So it should seems like that it will be a seperate stream if you listen it 4-5 times you will get it.

Former international students are doing the same things as you do to be eligible for CEC stream PLUS they had paid the tuition fee to Canadian institutions, usually more than $15k CAD each, then housing, food, transportation etc. to the local economies. According to IRCC's report, int'l students alone spend close to $511 million dollars in British Columbia on goods and services each year (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/evaluation/isp/2010/findings.asp)

At the provincial level, studies in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan have shown similar economic benefits of international students in their jurisdictions.

The BC study found that international students spend close to $511M for direct purchases of goods and services each year.
The MB study estimated that that their total economic impact (including tuition, academic fees and non-academic spending) surpassed $74M during the 2006-2007 academic year.
The SK study estimated the annual expenditures of international students at the University of Regina, the University of Saskatchewan and in the K to 12 sector to be over $71M in 2007.

Listen it carefully, this is what he said......

we are going to give additional point under what we call express entry to Int'l students so higher % of them can become Permanent residents.

Ahhh this really annoys me. Foreign workers also spend money when they live there. They will usually spend more on accommodation and food because they can afford it when students can't. Students pay for tuition fees, which go into the university.

This quote appears to pretend that foreign workers just live under their desks and don't spend any money while they live there.

Uhm, we do need to eat, use the internet, heating, electricity, water and public transportation too. Btw, CEC applicants are not international students, we are former international students, who are working and paying taxes just like you do. We all have what you have, just that we used to "contribute" a lot to the Canadian universities and the local businesses.

I can't quite read your argument here, so I'm not going to address it. I'm also a CEC and FSW applicant but I studied in the UK.

My point is: between two applicants who have the same degrees, same jobs and same salary, award bonus points for the one with Canadian degree is a good way to attract more international students to come to Canada -> more money to Canadian economy.
