Hi,
I just received the invitation to the virtual ceremony. As exciting as this is, it is on the same day I am traveling out of Canada for family stuff. The thing is I already reported my travel plans last year using the IRCC web form.

Anyway, my question would be, if I do the ceremony and cut my PR card and ask for a citizenship e-certificate, would I be able to enter Canada again (by air) using my e-certificate?
Or should I just ask to reschedule the ceremony altogether?

I emailed them on the email provided in the invitation regarding this but I don't know how long it takes them to respond. Especially, that the travels and ceremony are in 2 weeks.

You’d need a Canadian passport to return to Canada. Would ask to reschedule.

If you can enter the US with your current passport and don't have enough time to secure a Canadian passport before coming back, you may try changing your flight back to the closest airport in the US.
The citizenship certificate allows to cross the land border only, you wouldn't be admitted in the plane without a Canadian passport.
Only exception to the above : the US passport. Canadian-American dual citizen can enter the country with either passport.

Yeah, unfortunately, I cannot use my passport to go the US.

not sure if they will approve your request if your travel not for emergency case, if they don't accept it, you have to cancel your travel as you can't do the outh ceremony outside canada even if i's virtual ( as far as i know ) .

Contact IRCC and postpone your oath. You cannot return to Canada by air with the e certificate.
