censor people in photos (relationship photos, wedding, etc)

Doe anyone know if we are allowed to censor a person from a photo, while giving a reason in the description as to why they have been censored?

U could with an explanation, but even with one it may seem suspicious.. Depends why you are blacking them out.

if you are doing that it means you are requesting interview and lot of suspicion. they will not believe on your reason in the description. i would be better not to send that photo.

Agree with the other posters. A big thing in immigration right now is that people are submitting doctored photos to push through fraudulent marriages. If you've got pictures with someone blacked out, you're gonna raise questions big time, and as someone mentioned, pretty much inviting yourself to an interview.

May I ask why you'd want to black someone out?

I have some people in some pictures that may not want to be shown. In respect to their religious beliefs as well as personal reasons. I was thinking of just writing a letter explaining why this person may not want their photo to be seen. But again, as most of you say, theyre going to find that suspicious or something. I guess i just have to speak to this person and see if they permit me to send in the photos.

It's not like you're releasing the photos to the public. It's only to the immigration officer. Nobody is going to see these photos except the people reviewing your file. And they should respect your privacy. Unless the problem is that you're friends or family with some well known people and you think the person reviewing it would look at you differently.

Using altered photos is a VERY bad idea! Not only will it invite questions and guarantee you get called for an interview, it will cause them to question EVERYTHING in your package. If they feel you might be hiding something, even with a good reason, they will pick through everything else in great detail to see if you're hiding something more than just a face on a photo.

Okay, this is just my personal opinion....they already had their picture taken so if they would be offended being seen in a photo, the damage was already done when the photo was taken. Those are your photographs and your choice to use or not. It's nice that you would think of the other person's religious belief, but what if that person showed up in every single photo? Would that force you to throw out your entire wedding album for sake of that person's beliefs? Just something to think about....

Are you able to include only photos that don't show these people clearly, OR to crop these people out of the photos? Either of these is a better idea than, say, putting a big black box over someone who doesn't want to be shown.

No, definitely no well-known people in my photos, wish I had the PM or Immigration Minister in there though, that might have helped my process times, lol.

Well apparently they made it a rule of thumb that, from Kosovo (where my wife is from), the IOM will interview every single applicant, regardless of whether there is sufficient evidence or not. BTW anyone heard of this rule, maybe in another country or something? and also people change, maybe at the time the photo was taken they didnt have the same beliefs as they had afterwards. honestly, if I didnt need the photos for this reason, I would have been more than happy to oblige and to remove the photos, or crop this person out at least.

I tried looking at cropping them out, but in a lot of photos they are in the middle area, which makes it VERY awkward to crop and very weird to probably look at.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to blame you there.. just what I noticed. The guy has some interesting points.. admittedly I'm still browsing it. I'm sure it could probably offend each one of us.
