Hi All,

I am going to apply for PR under CEC NOC 2174. I am confused about my Job reference letter as i have been working in the same company but on contract for first 6 months and then was hired permanent. Just to clear up things following is my scenario.

Work experience in company A - 14 months.

First 6 months in company A - On contract was hired by Company B. An employment agency who placed me in company A. I received my pay stubs from Company B as i was being paid by this employment agency company B.

Rest of 8 months in company A - I was hired as permanent employee and my pay stubs are from company A as they pay me and i am no longer bound to Company B.

I am confused if i would have to get 2 employment reference letter from both company A and company B (Employment agency) or just 1 employment reference letter from company A is sufficient stating that i have been working for complete 14 months out of which first 6 months i was on contract and i was paid by company B and rest of the months i was permanent. And of course other details like start and end date of my employment, job duties, main responsibilities etc. follows.

Any suggestions guys.

As per my understanding you need 2 reference letters...

First from company b,mentioning that you are working for client a and all other information on checklist

Second letter from company a, mentioning the current employment...

I am pleased to confirm that Mr. Su worked at Anu Consultancy Services (registered as 5676667 CANADA LTD) full-time as a Web Designer from May 3, 2012 to Dec 31 2012. • developing new web applications to meet client requirements through packaged and customised applications;
• creating mock-ups, wire frames and working HTML prototypes for client-related projects;
• creating and editing images and graphics for website use;
• complete testing of Web applications;
• developing website architecture and functionalities including content development;

• providing application training to clients as required.

If you have any further questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact myself.

Thank you honeysingh. This was really very helpful to me. Thanks for the sample as well.

Just want to confirm if both the reference letters had the exact same words for key roles and responsibilities section, would it create any problem in my application? I know that i was working in the same position for both the companies but would you suggest to use the exact same section for job duties or should i modify the words a little bit to keep both the reference letters unique. Obviously the job duties will eventually mean the same on both the letters.

If two companies are providing you with a ref. letter and the wording is identical; of course it's going to cause problems/concerns. The officer will know that the letters have not come from the companies but in fact you. Why are you writing the letter instead of your employers?

Why take any chance by submitting the same reference letter from both employers.

Company A: take the above sample reference letter as a Draft.

Company B: Take the below information as a Draft and edit according to you.

Re: Confirmation of work for Mr.Su

To whom it may Concern:

This is to confirm that Mr.Su is currently working as full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent employee for XXX Ltd . with an annual salary of $70,000.
Mr. Su has been full time permanent employee for XXX Ltd. since Nov 22, 2012.

His position is Web Designer and his duties are as follows:

Change the wording and submitt to your supervisor/HR, and I guess they will verify and make the changes accordingly.

I had submitted my own versions of the employment letters(Same Position but Both with totally different wordings) to both of my employers, and then they approved and signed on it.

Just make sure the you have the below details on the letter.

Company Letter Head.
Company Address, Fax, telephone No, Website
Your Full Legal Name, Job Title, Period of employment, salary, Duties, Benefits
Your Supervisor/HR Name, contact details(Signature)

Hey guys..... another couple of questions on filling the application

1. do I need to send the original letter of reference from the employer or just a photocopy?
2. Do I need to get all the photocopies notarized before I send it or just the birth certificate?

Thanks

you just need to send a copy of reference letter , however I would suggest you to send orignal if its not difficult to get another letter in future

2. Do I need to get all the photocopies notarized before I send it or just the birth certificate?
no need to notarize any documents, unless if they need to be translated from different language (Other then english/French).

Same here no need to notarize Birth certificate, if your BC is not in english/French. Then yes translate to english and notorize the document.

Thanks

Thanks for this info. Did you sent your bank account statement along with your application? The document checklist does not have it under the list but one of my friend told me that it is better to send your bank statement with your application.

Even I thought of sending the bank statements, however i decided not to do that.... Just the pays tubs will the sufficient.

Too much documentation will also confuse the visa officer, so pays tubs will be more then enough.

I have another confusion. I have started my job as a junior php developer. I have been working here in a variety of junior to intermediate php development job during this time. my employer provided me with a ref letter where it's said that, I have been working full time over a year and they are happy with my progress and my current role is PHP developer. No mention of senior/intermediate or anything. and I have my job description. Will it be am issue??
