Hi Friends,
Is there any timeline (e.g. within x no. of days/ 3 months/6 months etc.) by which one need to complete the landing for PR after getting passport stamped?

you can come back for landing anytime within the validity of your landing visa.. even on the last day .

Does anybody know if we need to hold a valid work permit when we do landing?

The reason of asking this is my current work permit will expire on June 20, in case I can't get the passport back before that date, I assumed I would have to apply for BOWP...

Thanks in advance.

BOWP is only valid to work legally in Canada, its just a work permit extension, its not a travel document and its not valid to enter in the country at all.
Are you currently living in Canada? If you do, you dont have to do any landing to validate your COPR, you can make an an appointment to go to a CIC office near to you.
and if you are living outside right now you actually cant apply for BOWP being outside of Canada.

Has anyone had Medical done in the UK? when I did medical in Toronto it was very basic, blood test, blood pressure, no chest xray and it only cost $150. Now I've got to get a new medical done in the UK, I emailed the clinic and they said it's £310 (about $620 Canadian) and included HIV test and chest xray. Do I really need that, why does it cost so much more?

hehehe! I know, I couln't believe the price after I've seen other ppl in this forum pay $150 CAD. And if its Knighstbridge docs in London, they don't even do upfront, you have to wait until you get the request from cic.
So if you can why not, air transat tickets to CA are about £300 return

Yea the medical price is crazy, I asked at work if I can have tomorrow/ next week off as holiday and they said yes, so hopefully I can arrange a medical in Toronto for next week before I book a flight.

Does the medical clinic have to be from the list on CIC's website http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

Yes, only from the list. Only these doctors have the setup to update e-Medical system used by Canada Immigration

Thanks. Anyone know a clinic in the Toronto area under $200 that would be able to do it next week?

You can call RCMP and leave a voice massage with your name, reason for calling and contact#. They will call you back in 1-2 days and you can confirm with them if they have sent RCMP check to CIC or not. Also, ask them to send you a confirmation email so that you can forward to CIC.

Processing time shows 3 days or less on RCMP website but It does take a while to get RCMP result via mail. It took around 12 days for me to get and another 3 days to forward that result to CIC. Hope this would help.

Thanks Harry, I called them thrice, left voicemails, emailed couple of times, no response ! Just praying things move ahead !

Hi All,

I decided to visit my MP to see what they could do. They informed me that my file is STILL under eligibility review, and have yet to start security and criminality.

I find this very strange, as I am 19 months into my processing time, have completed medicals and paid my RPRF.

She did mention that several files are being pulled for second review as they found handfuls of applicants applying under CEC that were not actually eligible, resulting in a backlog of files overall, and eligible candidates like myself being reviewed further.

My file was physically pulled 2 days ago by an officer for review. I am hoping it's just a check, check, check process and this is done with very soon.

I would highly recommend seeking help from your MPs, they can be of great assistance. I visited their offices yesterday and got a response this AM.

Best of luck to everyone.
