I don't see the requirement. My guess is the travel date is relevant for how fast they can book you an appointment.

I think they need a proof of travel for urgent (by the end of the next business day) and express service (2 to 9 business days). At least that's what I understood from their site. I think regular in person processing (about 10 business days) does not require a proof of travel anymore.

I think most people, me included, would choose the 10 business days. It's much better than 25+ business days by mail, and you don't have to send the original certificate.

It may take a while if you apply by mail. For in person, you can get it by the end of next business day (with a plane ticket and $110 per person fee) or after 2-3 business days (with a plane ticket and $50 per person fee). If you don't want to pay extra, the application takes about 10 business days to be processed + 2-3 business days in mail when applied in person (or for extra $20 you can pick up).

Considering one does not need a visa for Canada when visiting using their Mexican passport, they can request a special authorization (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...nada/dual-canadian-citizens-visit-canada.html) but this not the most reliable option specially considering that urgent and express services are available to those in need.

For urgent passport dont wait for them to call you, Just visit the Passport office . They will let you apply walk in if you have proof of travel.

I called them early morning, they said the local office will call by 8:30 local time and its already 10 AM but no call yet. I have a flight on Tuesday March 8, I am really worried and anxious. They said they will call but they didn't. They really stress you out at every step.

Take an appointment. It's better. You wait a little longer to get an appointment, but you wouldn't have to wait in line, and it's guaranteed

I called them early this morning, they said that the local office will call me to book and appointment. But they have not called me so far, its been 3 hours past the time they said they will call me. And with the weekend and my travel is Tuesday. I don;t know when would they call if ever.
