Seems like passport office application submission is 10 days normal processing whereas some service canada offers 20 days (biz) as normal processing..
Yes some Service Canada locations are specific to Passport processing and they have 10day processing (link here https://ircc.canada.ca/english/passport/map/map.asp?po=1#table1caption). These centers are specific to passports and they don't have other services like SIN, EI etc. These generally have more counters and the line moves quickly

Other Service Canada locations are having 20days processing (https://ircc.canada.ca/english/passport/map/map.asp?scc=1#table1caption)

There is a difference in Service Canada Passport office and regular Service Canada office services hence the difference is 10 days and 20 days respectively.

It was easier to understand when the passport office/agency was a different thing with a different name. The branding is a mess.

For all practical purposes, they still are, but now they're both formally - by name - service canada, even though everything else is still different.

Short answer for almost everyone: if in doubt, go to the Passport Office / Service Canada passport only locations.

The regular service canada locations help you fill out the forms - which is nice of course - and then they just send them BY MAIL to the Passport Office / agency / part of service canada that only does passports. That's the only passport service they offer, really.

If in doubt - go to the passport office.

My timeline so far:

May 13, 2024: Mailed in Passport Application by regular post
May 27, 2024: Got a file number for the application
June 10, 2024: My credit card was billed the $160 fee today

Hoping it's done soon! Tracker just says its in processing since receiving the file number. Just wondering does the billing indicate anything about the processing timeline? Does it mean they maybe started looking at the application today?

Hello, new to this thread but just want to update here. Applied for passport last week on June 4 and received it today via Xpresspost (did the usual 10 processing days). So my recommendation is to go to the North York (for people residing in Toronto) location, especially if you're around there. Walked in first thing in the morning, submitted my app with 2 hrs wait and got my passport in a week, which is unusually fast.

Only wished my overall citizenship app was as fast as my passport LOL.

Congrats. Good that you took my advice for a Passport office :) Now on to the Surrender thread. I have my appointment on Jun 22. Fingers crossed they accept it in the first go.

Haha yes. I initially booked an appointment with a non-passport office and with your advice, I cancelled it and walked into an actual Passport Canada. So thanks to you! :)

Went to Yonge & Sheppard for my passport, they said express applications has delays, and told me to take 10 day processing. I hope it’s processed in time, and not delayed

Guys , seeing that a lot of us are facing delays atm,

how accurate are the timelines for in-personal application and pick up as well?

I applied in-person at the Richmond,BC location and paid $20 for pick up option, they told me it's gonna be ready in 10 Bus days
it's been 6 business days but online tracker haven't changed and still shows we're still processing your application.

Applied in person - Apr 27
did you get yours? How are you tracking it? The person told me I can’t track since it’s in person application
