No can be any photo that was taken in the past 6 months as long it meets their size specificationsHi. I have a question. Is it really necessary that the photos I use for the passport application be different from the ones I sent with the citizenship application?
Move to US in 2021. Attended oath in May2022 by traveling to Canada and returned back in few days. Waited for my friend to send the certificate to US.Hi @harirajmohan
I looked at your profile signature, and it seems that you applied for your Passport in-person and were able to pick up in-person as well. However, for your family, the passports were mailed to you in the US. Considering that I find myself in a similar situation I had a few questions-
(i) Did you make the application in-person in Canada whilst you were residing in the US? I'm planning on traveling this weekend to make an in-person application even though I'm currently a resident of the US. Do you foresee any issues with this?
(ii) Would having a US address on the passport application form prevent me from picking up the passport in-person? I do have a mailing address in Canada where my citizenship certificate was mailed. I could just list that address if it enables an in-person pick up
(iii) In the event that the officer determines that the passports will be mailed to me at my address in the US (Not eligible for an in-person pick up), do they hold on to the original documents?
(iv) If the passport is mailed out to the US, is there tracking capability available?
Considering that I'll be traveling this weekend to apply in-person, I'd appreciate your insights around potential issues with this approach.
Many thanks!
NK
Picked up my passport last week, it was not as busy. Got a token for pickup upstairs, was sent down directly with no wait. The line downstairs was short, waited for probably 5mins. Went to the window, showed id and receipt. Was out in 5mins. Overall in and out in less than 15mins. My guarantors or references were not called.Applied in person today(Mar 17th) . Surrey (Central City)Passport Office.
Went in at 11 am. Took 2.5 hrs. 2 hrs 20mins wait, 10mins actual time for the application processing. They did say that it was busier than usual today. Applied express (with travel proof), pick up date March 23rd.
Overall the process was smooth. Got first number assigned, waited for the number to be called for about an hour. Then went on second wait line for document verification, took about 15mins. Waited another hour to be called on the counter for actual application processing. Once at the window, it was pretty quick.
Note: Express and urgent applications need to be picked up in person (by the applicant). The stamp for personal pick up was placed on the area where you can designate 3rd party pickup. I didn't try to persuade them otherwise for pick up by someone else, since it was not a big deal for me.
Standard postal service is either they leave it in your mailbox, OR leave a notice for you to come and pick up at the nearest post office. (I picked ours up at passport office so don't know offhand which they use)After submitting my application, I was told that the passport will be mailed to me. I can't remember what would happen if the delivery came but I were not home. I remember they briefly mentioned it, but I can't remember what exact consequence is. Do I need to pick it up at a post office, or do I need to call them or something? Can someone explain?
Even though they called my guarantor on Thursday I haven't received my passport yet. Though today is the official mail out date so maybe I'll get it tomorrow.Update: They called my guarantor today. Asked about where I lived, where I'm from, my height, weight, build, where I work, and my birthday
I don't think the tracker is doing anything. There's no intermediate status, nothing. I had to call them up and they said that it is still in the printing process. I was told a mail out date of Mar 28 and it's still not done. Canadian government offices are a fucking nightmareAnyone tracking their passport on the new tracker? Been 10 days since I submitted at passport office and the only status I see is "We have received your application and have stated processing it"
Any luck on the passport?I don't think the tracker is doing anything. There's no intermediate status, nothing. I had to call them up and they said that it is still in the printing process. Applied for a passport in person at Sinclair Centre in DT Vancouver. I got there at 10 am and was sent to an office where they check all documents, see if your guarantor has done everything, everything is signed etc. This process took about 20 mins
After that, they ask you to go to another office right next to it where they give you a ticket with a number on it. There I waited for 90 mins for my number to show up. Once the number showed up, I went to the counter, submitted my docs where they verified a few things. If you have everything in order and have all the documents in place then you won't spend more than 5 mins at the counter. I didn't ask for urgent or express. They did offer me pickup but my mail date is March 28 which is sufficient enough for me so I didn't opt for it.
Total time it took from my arrival there to being seen is approx 2 hours. You could go earlier and be among the first in line but the chaos of last summer is no longer present and everything seemed to go smoothly so showing up at 6 am is no longer necessary.
I'll post an update once I receive my passport. Based on what I see, I should get it before Mar 28 so keeping my fingers crossed.
Your birthday ? Did they ask your zodiac sign ?Got my passport in the mail today. It got sent yesterday on Mar 29 so a day after the reported mail date.
I saw that it was issued on May 23 when they called my guarantor. They asked my guarantor about where I lived, where I'm from, my height, weight, build, where I work, and my birthday.
FYI - the online passport status checker still shows under process. I had to call them this morning to get the tracking number so I think it's best to rely on phone to get information.
