Got hold of the rep after waiting for a couple of hours on the phone yesterday. Application is still "under examination". Had submitted it at service Canada office on 25th of March. Rep had no idea when they will start working on it and what's the average processing time these days. He kept saying that if I want it urgently then to transfer it to a local office provided I've proof of travel which I don't as I want the passport in my hand before making any plans. So it seems that is the only option left to have your application processed. All along they have been saying not to make any travel plans before the passport is issued and now they want confirmed travel booking before processing your passport.

Really frustrating!!! Anyone else in the same boat with over 2 months waiting for their passport?

You can contact your MP's office. they may be able to influence and process it faster since you have been waiting for 2 months

Was at Vic St on Tuesday. Got there at 6am, was out by 9:30. You wait outside till office opens. You get activity around 6.30-7am when security starts screening people to make sure you are eligible. They don't check docs at that point, just asking that you are travelling within 25 days or if's for a office transfer or check status of a mailed in application. Latter 2 cases will be split in a different line.
If I have a booked appointment at a Service Canada office, should I still come this early and wait in line?
Or is there a separate line for booked appointments?

You can go 5 or 10 minutes before appointment
Security staff will guide on next steps

I am in the same boat just at a seat in a row further at the back! Lol!

Got through the agent on Thursday 05/26 following instructions from SC officer to call in if I don't get my passport by 05/25.

Status is "In Examination"...not sure what that means. Consistent with what you said above the only way to get a passport is travel proof.

Timeline - Application submitted in person - 04/19 at SC North York
Expected mail out date - 05/17
ETA - 05/25

Regards,
NC

I submitted on 29th March with mail out date as 29th April. Still nothing, crickets! Waiting and waiting...

I submitted multiple forms for status but no response ever... Passport agency really needs to get their act together!

Request status of a child application (cic.gc.ca)

Your child’s application status is usually available 10 business days after you submit it. If you applied in person at a Passport Program Office, the status is usually available in 5 business days.

I'm seriously starting to consider booking a hotel in the US just to have something for proof of travel, and not get stuck for over 2 months... :(

I also called them a few days back, applied in person in a service Canada location on 30th March. Basically told me the same thing, only difference is he said I might be able to receive the passport in late June or early July.

Went back with appointment after waiting in line last week and the agent deciding didn't like the birth certificate translation. With appointment was in and out in bit less than an hour, passport for pickup in two weeks. Overall painless.

Mind, it was a very busy day at the North YOrk passport office and long, long lines. Clear at 11 am they weren't going to get through all (acc to the commissionaires).

Good grief !! What an absolute misery this is. I submitted in person at a service Canada center on April 29th, was told the mail out date is June 7….I have travels planned for July 22 and it’s wild to now have cause for concern that the passport won’t be here by then .

Any montrealite who knows , how's the timeline like for a new passport in a normal scenario, walk-in or mail recently?
