Hi Everyone,

I currently reside in the US (Seattle Area.) I am on an F-1 Visa OPT and currently not employed. I am single and do not have any relatives in Canada. I plan to file for FSW EE in a couple of weeks. In the mean time, I wished to travel to Canada (Vancouver- very close to Seattle) for tourism purpose. If I apply today, I will get my passport stamped with Canada visitor visa within 2 weeks. I will start my PR application after that point.

Is it advisable?

Thanks.

I don't see why that would be an issue. I have a visitor's visa and just got PPR. There may be other reasons why you might have difficulty getting a visitor's visa, but your future plans to submit a PR application shouldn't be one of them. And having a visitor's visa doesn't have any impact on a PR application... Why do you think it would pose a problem?

I have my doubts owing to the following reasons:
1. I don't have a job in the US (I am not a US citizen): Visa Officer may think I may have employment intentions in Canada.
2. I plan to travel by car. Therefore, no flight return ticket.
3. No immediate family in the country of residence (US)

Like I mentioned, I will be applying for a PR soon. I do not want to risk a visitor visa rejection.

Thoughts?

Well, to be honest, based on what you've explained, the chance of a Visitor Visa Rejection is high. But a Visitor Visa Rejection doesn't have to necessarily negatively impact a PR application, as long as you're honest about it and disclose it. Visitor Visa Rejections are generally due to the fact that IRCC has a concern that you will stay in Canada indefinitely even though this isn't allowed under a Visitor's Visa; PR applications don't take this into consideration since the general point of them IS for you to stay in Canada indefinitely. There seem to be lots of persons on this forum with visa rejections (for Canada and/or other countries) who ultimately get their PR.

Yes, it does make sense why visitor Visa rejection would not matter so much while applying for PR.
