I'm an on call post master and on call ergo. In any case, if someone says "we don't know where it is" and it's registered, the system is HORRIBLY flawed. They lost my husband's passport, my passport, plus my birth certificate. All are crazy important documents. Montreal, Ottawa and Brockville are all lazy, at the very least. If they weren't, it would have scanned when it left Montreal, arrived in Ottawa, left Ottawa, arrived in Brockville, left Brockville. But it wasn't. Thus my rage towards CP. If -ALL- documents were scanned, then you must know why my husbands wasn't, or mine.

Oh yes, and thank you SO much for attempting to make me feel like crap. While I have nothing against you, to say " Good that you've made the decision to take the advice of someone who doesn't work for Canada Post over someone who does." Did nothing but piss me off.

Chill up guys! ;D :-*

It was not my intent to make you feel like crap.

I get tired of people who have not the first idea of what goes on in CPC beating on the stereotype of postal workers. I get tired of being called lazy even though I walk 10kms a day in temps from 40C to -40C. I get tired of people telling me how to do my job. I get tired of people telling me I'm "late" with the mail because I arrive at their house at 11am instead of 10:45.
Maybe you should consider the feelings of postal workers when you describe them as lazy.

10 KMS each day ? :o CP do devilry on foot ? no wonder why they are late lolzz

I am just joking ;D

Chill up guys, every job has its up and down.

I'm not sure why people insist on calling the call centre and demanding to know exactly where the package/letter/gift for granny is. The agents there have nothing further to add to the scans. I worked in the call centre for a while, and every day, I'd get at least 30 people screaming at me demanding to know where their letter was. "But you must have more information! I know it says here that you don't, but you must! Your system is different!" *Sigh* Yes ma'am, my system is different, my screen is blue and yours is white. Otherwise, I have nothing else to add.

In general, I believe that Canada Post does an excellent job. However, like any company, there are some employees who don't do their jobs correctly. I've had several packages and letter arrive without a single scan, despite being sent Xpresspost or even Priority Courier. Most letter carriers do a great job as well, and it is not a job I would like to do. At least in the call centre, I was safely in a building, separated by hundreds of kilometres from the crazy callers, the letter carrier gets to see them face to face.

The scans can be a bit wonky at times, but if you have a delivery scan and a signature, then you're good.

Of course, the worst part is that you can't call the receiver to check if they have it, because CIC has a giant mountain of applications and they don't confirm receipt. So all you can do is print your delivery confirmation (if you're so inclined), and wait.

*note: This is not meant to offend anyone, it's strictly my own view as someone who answered hundreds of calls like this every day.

I know this is an older thread but how should I interpret this sequence? I looks like it's bounced.

Code:
2013/02/22	11:08	MISSISSAUGA	Item processed at postal facility
10:07	MISSISSAUGA	Item out for delivery
08:02	MISSISSAUGA	Item processed at local delivery facility
04:53	MISSISSAUGA	Item processed at postal facility
2013/02/21	16:22	MISSISSAUGA	Item was released by Customs and is now with Canada Post for processing
16:20	MISSISSAUGA	International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs
00:52	GBCVTA,United Kingdom	International item has left the origin country and is en route to Canada

We paid a lot of money for this Parcel Force "Global priority" service and it's already late.

Z.

Global Priority is 6 to 8 days assuming it was DHL.

The out for delivery scan is made by the carrier or courier delivering it. The last scan would indicate to me that it was delivered but not scanned on receipt and was manually re-entered in the system by default; or the item was not delivered and returned to the depot. Check the tracking tomorrow to see if it goes out for delivery again. International priority are treated as Xpresspost in Canada and the delivery standard is 2 days not including weekends.

Items re-enterd by default. This happens when the person delivery either does not see or does not scan the right bar code and when they return to the depot at the end of their shift the data in the scanner is unreconciled. When there isn't any or enough info in the system to identify the item specifically then the item will be re-entered usually as redirected.

If you want to message me the tracking number I can check it at work tomorrow. See if I can find anymore info out.

As it happens, the status changed overnight and has been retrospectively updated to say
Code:
2013/02/22	AM	MISSISSAUGA	Item successfully delivered
AM Signature image recorded for Online viewing Bud Jamal
11:08	MISSISSAUGA	Item processed at postal facility
10:07	MISSISSAUGA	Item out for delivery
08:02	MISSISSAUGA	Item processed at local delivery facility
04:53	MISSISSAUGA	Item processed at postal facility

Interesting that the date didn't change with the "delivered" status update.

Thanks for the insight on how this all works however. I guess I'm going to have to get used to it.

Regards,
Z.

There really is no magic to it.
It looks like in your case the package was just transferred to another carrier. Good thing is you know its there.
