Hi Sasa80,
I have exactly the same situation as you've described in your post.

I have an S1 multiple entry visa and a post graduate work-permit (However I do have a study permit still valid but I changed my status and I got a post-graduation work permit).

I left Canada in February 2011 and now I want to come back for finding a job. Do you think I can enter using my S1 VISA and work-permit or should I get a new visa for my work permit?

Could you enter finally?

Thanks,
Maryam

Hi guys

you can- not enter Canada without a visa unless you are from a visa exempt country.

The PGWP is a document that allows you to work inside Canada for full time.

It is not a travel document.

If your Temporary resident visas are still valid you can enter Canada without any problem.

If they have expired inside or outside Canada then you will have to apply for a multiple temporary resident visa at the nearest Canadian

embassy if outside Canada.

I do have a valid S1 multiple entry VISA (student category) but I got a post graduation work permit 2 months ago. Now I am outside of Canada. Can I enter Canada with my S1 visa and current work-permit? or since my S1 VISA means having a study permit (although my study permit is still valid, I am afraid it is cancelled after receiving my work-permit), should I apply for a W1 re-entry VISA?

Hi

you can still travel to Canada as long as your visa does not expire

what is a W1 re-entry?

When you apply for a TRV, if you reside in Canada on a study permit the category of your VISA will be S1 (students) but if you're living on a work permit, your VISA is W1(workers).
My problem was that I got my re-entry VISA when I was still a grad student, so my re-entry VISA was in S1 category. But then I graduated and I applied for a work-permit. My re-entry VISA is still valid. I am not sure if I can enter Canada with an S1 multiple-entry VISA and a work-permit. You know S1 does not match work-permit.

Your replies are appreciated

According to the guidelines

you will have to apply for W1 re-entry visa in your case

your current valid S1 visa will be canceled by CIC since your status has changed from student to PGWP

Hello,

I'm an international student in Canada and I have a valid study and work(off campus) permit. I also have a valid multiple entry visa( W1). My work(off campus) permit was last issued and it is valid until April 2013. Even though I'm still a student and a part-time worker in Canada, can I still re-enter Canada with my multiple Entry visa(W1) or should it be S1?

Please help me. I appreciate your help. :)

Regards,
Selma

Hi,

A multiple entry student visa allows you to re-enter Canada and you cannot re-enter Canada with your study permit. Your study permit is a legal document that shows your current status in Canada and allows you to study.

I hope this helps.

Hi Selma - It helps. do we need to mention anywhere in study visa appln for multiple entry student thing or it is automatically considered and that we just need to mention study visa. I'm very new to these visa process and sorry, if this question does not make any sense
